I was thinking of trying a set of these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110623009364&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

not really cheap as some of the usual suspects but "different"

My guess is they will all be ok, you'll just want to replace all the bolts/ cap screws with good zinced or SS ones...

I've seen a few things from china and the threads on the bolts/cap screw are almost sharp enough to shave with...

Get the ones you like and locktite the caps in...

Im sure there are good and bad ones out there if your willing
to shop around and chance it.
A local lad has some chinese one's.
Feel very fragile, i'd bet money I could snap one in my hands.
Pulling up 200+kg in an emergency stop? Not for me thanks.

That does still play on my mind Tony...way back when Des got some I had the same thoughts...

Pay the money and buy some good quality ones, with Chinese stuff the workmanship isn't necessarily always bad, but consistency, in other words quality control, is a big issue.
The biggest problem with their quality control is not always what you can see, but right down at the grain structure of the material level. The qc on their raw materials is so sub standard it is laughable, if you saw some of the Chinese bar stock and structural steel I have had through my business you would never buy anything that mattered from china.
I now specify no chinese to all my material suppliers, and quite happily pay the extra for materials that come from places with proper quality control.

Ive got a few sets of the ones in link B . No different to the pazzo ones which i also have well except for the price being 200 dollars less . I have used them and put them through there paces for the past 5 months giving them a workout . and no signs of anything yet . The clicker adjusters on them are tight , i personally rate them

Would the ones in the second link fit a 97 TRX? If I can't sell it I might as well make it look pretty.

Cheers for the opinions fellas but it looks like I will be getting a set of V-Trec's from germany.
Pazzo, FP and all the chink copies do just about every bike apart from '95-'98 XJR1200's (They didn't make it to America where Pazzo/FP come from and the chinese ones are based on them).

Ive got Pazzo's on the TL and china cheapies on the 14 and no dramas so far....just check the bolts on the cheapies.

Anybody know where stock levers are made????

I'm guessing stock would be Japan but as has been said above, most aftermarket are most likely china...
Anyway..all academic now....they don't make 'em for mine..
These are what I am going to get...
http://files.bs-motoparts.eu/images/bs-motoparts/hebel/hebelkollektion2.jpg
In black with Titanium grey adjusters to match the shocks and billet parts.
Just waiting on a reply about the VAT (tax) which is 19% in germany....by law they have to deduct it for export..

This thread could cover a wide range of manufacturers
and various levels of quality and price.

Maybe the big names make theirs there too?
Maybe the budget versions are equaly as good?
maybe there are some piss-poor dangerous rip off's?

Its something that its hard to see and agree on just from
reading a thread. The only thing I am sure of is of all
the aftermarket levers i've seen, they are NOT all the same.

Yes, spot on with the GST/VAT/Tax Russ, I have to keep an eye
on those sneaky f#ckin'g Pommies as they keep trying to add it too.
No duty on EU goods exported. No import tax on personal imports under $1k.

Russ... not thought of upgrading to more recent, modern master cylinders?
The radial one's seem to be the way to go and is on my Busa's "to do" list.
With your wheeling and dealing Ebay skill's it might not break the bank ?

Most reports say "Canada" and normaly quote....
CNC machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum, stainless steel hardware and cadmium plated springs.
They claim to manufacture everything "in-house".

If you do the two finger braking thing, choose the two fingers you could live without to stay on the bars[:0]

Take the nuts off and make sure the thread is in the nylon.
If the ball ends are too big and don't bit in, the nuts will undo.

They look pretty....

That was the one thing I spotted mate...I'll be doing that and using a drop of threadlock when they go back together..
I will also let the company know if they too short and request longer bolts.
