radiator guard??updated 6-3-07 swingarm nearly in!

gday folks, need some advice or a suggestion or 2 with regards to my radiator cover... now i can just do a simple cover of just the radiator, or i can add a little to the sides to fill in the gap between the rad and the front cylinder, doing this also hides the rad fans and a horn when i re-install it. so what would you do... do the below (change the shape of it maybe?) or leave it naked?

Mate,

If you made that guard, i reckon it would set the radiator off... fantastic idea... just another way to make your already individual bike even more..

i think its a great idea, although id switch the design up a little bit. I just did this real quick.

I think your orig one there is a good idea but it doesnt line up with anything on the bike. all striaght edges with the tail and the frame, i think it would be a bit out of place. i think if you follow the truss design of the frame it will hide stuff a bit more and not stick out.

i'll be putting some annodised gold ally mesh in behind to give it some contrast and to add a little more protection from stones.


and i modified the swingarm on sunday morning.. 2.5hrs of 6mm ally welding [::XP]

once i get that swinger sorted, relocate the iggy barrel (for now,, want to do a remote iggy), paint, and finish off the rearsets i started making, then its dubbo bound!! :D

i'll be repainting in stage 2 of the build (what color.. i dont know lol), when i strip it right down to powdercoat the frame etc... there just inst enough time to get all that sorted before dubbo, so she'll be done, just not pretty for dubbo.

ive relocated the dog bone mount on the swingarm, ive moved it back 20mm, ive tried to kept it minimal as posible so its hard to see, always been a fan of mods you HAVE to look for.

most of the welding you wont see whilst on the bike, its basicly behind the shock, on the underside of the swiingarm, and in front of the rear wheel, i'll post a batter pic of it up tomorrow, ive got to do some grinding on the swingarm still, as clearance is still tight.

also mark, are you able to do some machining of the swingarms pivot tube before afr?? i got an engineer local i can use, but id rather see the cash go to a fellow asf member ;)

I only have an old,(i did say old)lathe which is OK for pins and bushes on the bobcat, but no good for accurate machining besides i think you need a milling machine to do what you want.
having said that, I'm happy to help if i can.
