99 GSXR 600 pad backs?

Hi all, I'm doing my front brake pads on my 99 gsxr 600, and noticed that they don't have the clip on anti-squeak plates on the back. The manual doesn't seem to show them, either.

Are there meant to not be there, or am I missing something?

I dont think that any of the more moden bikes have any of them. Pistons working both sides of the caliper stops the squeaking I think. 90 RGV dont have any, 95 GSXR hasnt got any nor has my 07 R6 haven any.
