I have a very angry water cooled 600 sitting in my shed that i was planning on selling, but it seems its little to agro for most to be interested 16 to 1 comp setup for meth BIG cams etc.

So now I'm going to put together another "Road bike" so I'm looking for a rolling frame to suit the 600 and I want small so eather an early 400 4cyl or 600 suzuki (will be registered) Anybody got something gathering dust ? Jimmi is on his way down to Vic in 2 weeks so transport should be ok from nsw if i'm quick.

Frame found in melb complianced and previously regoed in Vic so should be no hassels there, Guy that has it saw a 400/600 honda converion a few months back said it looked good and wants to see how this turns out. Said its hard to find complianced GSXR400's wrecked ans there a little hard to find on the road in the first place, most are on the track and or were never complianced, and also if its pre 1988 can be reg without compliance plate (i didnt know this) The one I have found is 1988 but compliance plate fitted. Apparently the 1988 model has bigger 4 piston brakes and a slightly larger n heaver frame.

Thats what i was thinking , but finding one at the right price (or even just finding one at all) seems to be tricky atm.
Sad part is I sold a roller GSXR400 in as new nik asside of the rod through the bottom of cases 3 years ago ! Lesson learnt lol
Might make a better project for NFR shed race than Bunny.

Yeah thats the long term plan but to make rego simple I still need the numbers off another frame ! Otherwise its an Idividualiy constructed bike and subject to current ADRS So an early suzuki 400 even a steel frame one is the cheap option to get it on the road then, An aluminium tube frame would be the bees knees !

Not a roller or 600 but would be fun and the price is right...

Thanks shadow, but i would rather keep it all suzi if i could for much easyer rego issues in Vic. Prob alot less questions asked if its same brand etc.

Russ do you think they would really take it that far? If I use the headstem with plate etc and build the frame around it ? A spondon framed WA regoed bike ridding in NSW would probably get about the same amount of attention ? Or am I missing something ? I reaslise it should be engineered etc but so should most of the bikes we build. A non standard brake lever is braking ADRS technically.

whats the motor? got some rough dimensions?

Redmohawk

Hey fimp it was a RF600 but has 900 barrels on it now so is aa little wider at the top end but only say 50mm wider at the most I would bet, will mesure it up tomorrow (at the wrong house tonight) basiclly just an early water cooled 600 suzuki in line 4 , should have very simmilar dimentions to a Gsx600 water boiler.

Mate you would be nailed to the wall.
Think about it...you take the ID off one frame and attach it to a homemade frame...wouldn't matter how good the frame was, you would still be screwed..I would imagine you would be charged with a fair list of offences..
Like the Ipswich HD dealer that suggested I use my xjr frame number on my custom frame...
At the local bike shop one of the blokes has an old 600 Phazer steel framed bike with late model 1000cc motor fitted..looks like factory fitment...cop pulls along side him....
'Tell me' he says....'How did you fit that late 'thou motor in the 600 frame ?'
Some cops know their shit....

Ok so how far can I go on frame mods before I will need an engineering ticket ? And If I go that far does that also put me into indevidual constructed status and require a EPA test ? IE drop 600 motor into a 400 grey import frame, do you think that will fly past Vic rego assholes ? And if not will the $500 engineers report be enough to keep the fucktards off my back ? Or will I also be looking at a $2000 epa test as well? Any takers on this question ? Will post in other area as Getting a bit off topic here.

I'm fairly sure in vic your not supposed to modify the frame without certificate, also an engine that was not optioned in that frame same deal, but what you call the same frame ?? 7/11 conversion for example

Have you actually looked into running a methanol bike on the road ?
Bearing in mind how much more fuel per K you use ( up to 200% more) plus upper cylinder lubes, regular carby flushing...
And what if you're out on it and run out of fuel...normal petrol at 16:1...good luck...

Played with meth quite alot in the past mate , but not going there on the road (just to much to go wrong) motor will be unchanged but fueled with something "else" equally as mad just alot less dangerous and even legal! Thought about E85 to but no not that.

Thanks for the input though , nice to see a few people are keen to help. Been giving this beasty a lot of thought. Might put up a build post soon for NFR shed deal but going to keep some stuff top secret till the ride. After all I loved the "Shit has he put a turbo look" on the faces of the boys when I pulled up on betty this time. Going for something to spike real interest with some Serious engineering this time instead of just a big red aircleaner lol

just remember to make the mounts off the motor fit the frame and dont cut, chop the frame,no engineers need

Pete going from a 400 to 600 is more than 25% cappacity increase so engineers is required in VIC and most other states, Have been told to try and run it past Vic roads first and see what they say, but because it will be far from stock looking its doubt full but you never know your luck. And for $250 for the papers I think I'd be mad not to take it up , is a great way to shut up arogant coppers when its all written down on paper as legit.

All major parts found and starting to measure up looks to be a winner! Mini 7/11 conversion on the way, What to call this pig is the next question ?

4/6 is too obvious a name. But fuck it'd be a fun bike.

I hope so , yeah thought that would be a little to obvious. Is really a 675cc but looks like a 600 sort of.
