With your attention to detail on the seats , you'd be a better polisher than most of the payed guys about mate. Do it yourself , if its just the outside edges wont take you long , just a messy job with a few beers and the tv on will be done in no time.

Vote 2 for do it yourself. It really isn't that hard.

Kev, the outer rim is machined smooth on most bikes anyway, once the paint is removed, there fair close to polished. So I vote for the "DIY" job aswell. You'll get it in no time.

Kev, GLM polishers in South Australia are really good, I sent my wheels over from Tassie and the job was A1 and in my opinion - cheap !

Hey, if you can ship the wheels to Melbourne a good friend of mine runs a polishing business specialising in bike wheels. He is GOOD, real good, and his rates are even better. I can put you in touch with him if you want? Just PM me.

when i was working in a resort they had this stuff called magic sponge, it cleaned anything and everything, from surface rust on the rim of my house window to my fish tank, ive used it to polish a bull bar that had been weathered for 20 odd years and it came up brand new so might be worth tracking some down!

Ring the guy at GLM Polishers in S.A mate, you'll be very happy. I'm pretty damn fussy and I was very pleased with the end product. My rear wheel was in a bad way and he did wonders with it -- fixed a few flat spots and polished out some really bad dents and pitting marks - good job all around, before I sent it over I expected him to call me to say it wasn't worth doing. But he sorted the whole thing and saved me a few bucks on replacing the rear.

Have a go at it yourself and if it goes to poo send it to the pros, it isn't like it is something that can't be fixed if you fuck it.
