I had a set on my 88 model 711. As the others have said, a performance mod that you'll really notice, and at that price, cheaper than they'd be direct from the manufacturer.

only problem is they are shit for fitting tyres to [V]

other than that they are great for handling just like everyone has said :D

I've read that on the net, too.
As i've never fitted tyres myself, i can't guarantee either way, but I never had any one tell me they had any dramas when i had new tyres fitted. No unexplained marks on the wheels afterwards, either.

Well that's an internet based load of shit.
They are actually some of the easiest wheels to fit tyres to.
If you want difficult try a 240 tyre onto a car rim ............now thats a fuckin bitch.

my zerrias were a breaz to fit tires too, also the 250 to the rear rim was easy as.

i got a tyre machine and they look like a wheel i thinks they look easy,as ben says trying to inflate a sligthy smaller tyre onto a car rim is a pain in the arse as you have to get the tyre onto 1 bead b4 u can inflate it

Hey Ben, do you think it would be possible to get that 6" rear wheel into a 96 Bandit swingarm and have everything line up ?

Ha I've got one of those for sale too if you want one $200
otherwise I don't see any reason why it couldn't be made to fit the bandit arm.

Not an easy decision this one boys. That money could buy the complete front end set up that I want for my GSX1100 period 5 build - billet triples and rotors. If I didn't have that build on the go it would be easy to go ahead, but I've already started to invest into that chasis.

I'll need to have a bit of a think about it but I am interested --- just not convinced !!

Sooooo how do we convince you Moz... A black gixer swingarm that Ben conveniently has and this knockout price on the Carrozzeria's added to.... Um Doesn't someone we know have a feature coming up in SF Mag?? Plus they'd loook uber awesome.. ;) sell a kidney of something, ya only need one :)

I do like it boys but there's a few more cost's to consider apart from the wheels themselves. The big thing stopping me is my GSX1100 build. I'm sure that bike would be an easy sell to recover what it owes me but ? Also I've just ordered a pair of trick rear wilbers shocks for the GSX.

I sound like I'm makiing too many excuses, maybe this is telling me something ? Set of trick wheels or half a build of a second bike ?

Mozza, my way of thinking would be "the GSX isnt going anywhere in a hurry, but the wheels may not be there at this price buy the time Ive finished the GSX".
I know if I had the cash and I was you, hold the GSX back a little, and get some sweet rims for the awesome bandit. but thats just me... ;)

buying these wheels and swing-arm would help the gsx build,

the gsx needs a better swing-arm the bandit one should do nicely.
the gsx could also use the front wheel thats in the bandit now.
look how much money you save on the gsx build.

you just need spacers for the front wheel, about 5 mm each side

im sure ben could make them in about .2 minutes

these wheels make your brakes feel like carbon units from a gp bike too

Step 1 - Buy Them
Step 2 - Ask Ben

lol.. Not sure dude, you can make anything fit anything if you wanted..

Here are the differences between your setup and an 05-08 Gixer 1000 thou.. (highlighted in red)

I'm guessing\spit balling at a glance you would need rotors off an 05-08 Gixer as yours are no good with zeria's PCD being different.. some 1mm spacers to space the rotors out to 134mm to centre them in your calipers.. some spacers fabbed up to compensate for the 15.5mm difference in fork spacing at spindle clamps and to accommodate the 7mm drop in outside to outside bearing measurement.. not to mention axle diameters blah blah..

All the numbers are there dude, just add em up and see if they fit.. they would certainly look good though..

seriously....the ones fimp has are for a gixxer, he got them from me from my tl, all the need is the front spacers, just look like two big sump plug washers

i cant remember if there was some washers to space the rotors or not....fimp?

fimpBIKES
07-11-2010, 10:34 PM
they arent washers, they are "engineering spacers" LOL

two M8's under each bolt to be precise

btw, my carozzi's have bolt-on rotor mounting bits, my current front end swap will involve getting some custom ones done up to suit the new forks and radial callipers;

ALBI

hey fimp so all you did was use m8 flat washers under the rotor to space out from rim??
hey mate have you got some pic s of said tl ??

Gitzy
08-11-2010, 11:10 AM
What about the PCD of the rotors??

I'm guessing by this pic that your forks are K1/K2 GSXR 1000 fimp??

If so they have the same PCD as the TL1000 and the rotors are interchangabe but the K5-K8 Gixer thou rotors have 120 PCD, rendering Albi's current rotors useless.. make sense??

i have 02 gixxer forks in that picture, with aftermarket tl1000r spaced triples

the washers go between the brake calliper and the mounting face on the fork lowers
which moves the brake calliper towards the centre of the bike (making up for the wider TLR triples)

what forks would you be using albi?
the problem with any radial brake front end is you cant move the callipers in and out from the centreline of the bike.
The alternative is to move the rotors, and since rotors can be worth $500-600 i figure getting some custom spacers machined up is worth the bucks
