Well.... Kinda.

I was at Morry's work the other day and the workshop phone rings.
Morry picks it up and what I overhear is something paraphrased along the lines of.

"Yeah, yeah mate. Oh you got knocked back at your roadworthy inspection?"

"Handlebars out of alignment you say?"

"Well, yeah, nah I wouldn't straighten bent bars, look, why don't you bring it in and we'll have a look and see what we can sort out"

"what sort of bike is it ? Oh, GN250. Righto, see you soon.

So what rocks up 5 minutes later is this.

So Morry says "mate, you told me it was a GN250, not a...a...a... whatever the fuck THAT is !"

Didn't stop the big fella from playing with it and sorting old mate out to have another crack at rego though.

Apparently it cost 15k to build...pretty high price for what people would think is cheap transport, but it was an impressive set up.

I wouldn't mind havin' a ride.

Sorry for the average quality phone photo's.

definitely not cheap transport
annes gsx250 cost about $1500 registered when we got it and it runs on fumes

DEFINITELY points for doing it though
is it engineered etc?

There's a few of these around, they're damn expensive for the batteries and motor but really easy to make once you've got the bits. It's not something you do to save money on fuel, it's something you do for the fun of building and riding something really unique, and for a statement I guess if you're a greenie.

The torque on an electric bike is frikkin awesome though. 100% torque from the second you twist the throttle, no "power curve" its just a straight line all the way.

There's a few guys who build them here: http://www.aeva.asn.au/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=33

You would need a card on the spokes just so it made some noise and stopped people stepping out in front of you ;)

I think the innovation of some of these guys is just amazing ...

Seen quite a few attempts ar electric bikes trying out at the salt flats, realy nice ones , like the motozcysz http://www.motoczysz.com/club/?p=258&cpage=1 and realy strange ones like the "keepers of the blue flame" that don't keep it very well as they always let the smoke out of mk1,..... and mk2 well you just have to see it to believe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBmOhTK23g8
