Steering damper on Z1000?

Hey folks......
I have been offered a cheap GSXR steering damper and want to know if it is possible to mount it to my 2004 Z1000?
I have seen some side mounted ones and I think that it looks fugly and will get broken.
Anyone have any ideas or pictures?
