Like title says, I got a tad bored at work sooo, I took my spare pickup hooks from my old Kaneg stand which I sold with the L hooks a while back... So they were laying about gathering dust..

Bought some $20 Kmart Roller Blades for the 64 x 24 PVC wheels..

Welded up some scrap 25 x 25 SHS with some locking bolts..

Fitted the wheels, using high tensile 6mm bolts from work, the wheels have bearings and sleeves so that was good and they fit nice and snug..

Coat of Metallic Grey and VOILA.. Solid as a rock..

I've been using a stand almost identical that I made years ago out of 35 x 35 SHS but I'm giving it to my mate.. so I decided to make a new improved lighter version.. It Only weighs 5kg almost half of the original.. All up cost me $20 for Roller Blades and I got 8 Wheels so I could make a front one If I'm bored again.. and $7 for Spray Paint.. Should last many many years to come, not bad for less than 30 squid you reckon??

Heres my old one..

i can see one flaw in your design gitzy and dont stress the first time i made one i done the same thing and that was laying the grab handle flat if you angle it up its easier to grab a hold of....other than that top stuff

Rod your spot on.. I did the same thing first time around too, you think I'd rectify it on the new one, buuuut I forgot.. luckily theres plenty of leverage to get my fingers under it easy enough..

Kev i've seen your seats if your 1/1000000th any good at fabing compared to them, you'll make a good stand. lol.

Cheers Moz.

Very nice. I think the skate wheels are ingenious. I would have wandered around Bunnings for an hour trying to find wheels the right size. It wouldn't be hard to heat up the handle with the oxy and give it a slight bend in the vice so you can get your fingers under it. Except that you'd have to re-paint it.

I've contemplated making one of these for a long time. I was a metal fabricator many years ago and have a hard time buying stuff that I can make myself. Only problem is that I never [u]actually</u> get around to making stuff. LOL

I made 1 myself... it is crap but it does the trick.

I'll make another one one day, probably steeling the roller blade idea from you and the kicked up bit at the back as well so that fingers fit under.

Lol need to make some time to mess around Zooks...

With my last stand (the one under the bandit) I put 10-15mm hard rubber eliptical stick on thingos from clark rubber for about $3 on the underside of the stand, they did the trick to get my fingys under it, see how in the pic you can see the light under the stand.. I think I might do that to this one - plus the grab rail is round bar..

there is seriously a huge amount of leverage with the stand anyway so all good even without a gap for fingers..

good job toddy, just take it to work and use the oxy to heat up the handle and give it a little bend

I pinched one from a mate! He had two dozen of them hanging up in his shop.

I could do that.. but then I'd have to fork out a whole $7 for another can of paint.. lol :(
