Hi folks, great website!I am building a fighter based on an 87 gsxr pre-slingshot,using 91m 750 wheels and 91 u.s.d forks. The forks are the same length as the original r.w.u"s(both measured from top of yoke to centre of wheel spindle with rider and bike weight) so no probs there(i hope!),but wheels are now 17" instead of 18s,I took a measurement from the spindle centre vertically to ground, giving me a difference of 12mm(tyres fitted)so if my sums are right, the front end is now lowered by this amount.will this make the bike noticably quicker steering/twitchy?Back end is also lowered by around 5mm from wheel difference, perhaps this will compensate the front?I would be grateful for any comments/help if anyone else has done this conversion,(surely everyone has!)

The flat bar conversion should dampen any tendency towards head shakes.

I've dropped the clamps down the forks on my Geepz by 2.5 cm and raised the rear by ~4.5 cm, on the standard 16" front wheel, but with wide drag bars it shakes less than a standard Geepz, as long as I keep at least one hand on the bars.

Thanks, thats quite a difference on your kwak,I guess this isnt as crucial as i thought then!running an aircooled gpz750 at the mo,had one in the eighties and reckon theyre still cool, rode it across france last summer, ton up, tucked in one handed for hours-very long n stable.

Yeah, I had one of the last of them (A5) a couple of years ago, 18"ers front and rear with monoshock. Damned fun bike to ride.

Thats the one!a1 tho,84, no fairing n matt black!Rides well n owes me nothing(nearly). This gixxer tho...Was(am) tempted to put running gear onto gpz instead, still think its better looking.

Seen a few of the older Z fighters running GSXR motors in'em, they all look pretty good. And the Gixxer donk does haul ass.

HI ans welcome ..
your qzestion about the 12mm lower in the front..
no problem.. if you use the 18er rear wheel you have an better handling if its lower in the front..
if you always use an 17er rear wheel ( you can use an 5,5 zoll reaer wheel in your original swingarm) them go even down the 12mm in the back..
these are my (1st) and my brothers slabbys so you look that inow where iàm talking about

Thanks outlaw,Those bikes are well cool,i like the german style, was planning to use a seat unit like your bros,(need twin seats)whats it look like with the cowl removed?Think your bodyworks pretty rad too,Bugspoiler and front guard are wicked!Ihave the 5.5 17 rear so think all should be good. Thanks too Chalk, guess ive some decisions to make.at least i know the gixxer should handle ok.Have got r6 shock too and done the mods shown here, but feels as if its gonna b too hard,i"ll maybe start new thread when i get to that end of bike!
