some updates
decided to get rid of the cooler knew it was close to the wheel
but found that its definatly rubbing under braking so dont really wanna find out
what happens when i have to slam them on other niggly bit is that the cooler touches the turbo which vibrates like fuck so bite the bullet off to think automotive who did me a good deal on a new cooler lines and fittings
off to see bill on wed to get the revs sorted and some dyno time so i can get out and enjoy whatever summer we have left
sfc sorting me lights out and motogadgets speedo back to germany to get sorted looks like in blew a diode somehow:rolleyes:

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/2-1.jpg

just so you get an idea how close the cooler was to that wheel

loads of space now

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/P1050714.jpg

supose id better update
got the bike down to bills (dynomutt)sorted out the revs but still hunting but now usable had a lug break off on the rad got that sorted and rewelded bill also sorted out a leak on the sump and decided to sort out the clocks
carl is still sorting out a carbon insert for the ram air and healight cover in carbon think were gonna go with the busa jap logo cut out of it
carl did finish it but went at it with a hammer when his kid said it looked like a jammy dodger!!!!!
bike went back onto bill dyno good news tick over sorted goes well up to 4k bad news then badly goes rich was putting out 120bhp at 3.5k revs thats pretty much tickover :)

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/th_IMG_0642.jpg (http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/?action=view&current=IMG_0642.mp4)

so needs remapping decided to buy the leads needed to connect ecu to laptop got the software the ecu already been flashed with the latest software and spoke to jack at holeshot whos sending me the original mapping (really helpfull bloke) when it was pushing 287bhp so a good base to work from
thats it for now been sying that for ages cross fingers next two weeks back to sunny cornwall for bill to sort and get this beast running correctly

some help guys
loads of niggly probs all now sorted
was up at bills for a couple of days utilising his dyno
got the leads for the ecu, software, holeshots mapping ect
try to keep this short
mapping is pretty spot on tick over is now spot on not hunting for fuel
running rich at approx 8k revs
the problem is not boosting
using an eboost 2 which is set to 8psi but when on the dyno only getting about 3.5 psi
wastgate is working blow off valve working no cracks in plen chamber headers not cracked all plumbing checked and correct turbos running
mappings correct
any ideas ?
have been told what it possibly could be but before i post it wanna see what you guys think

heres the spec
fully stripped and rebuilt new mains and big ends
cylinder head had the valve seats re-cut and lapped and some minor porting
bearings and seals heavy duty headstuds
heavy duty clutch springs
forged je pistons, barrel spacer
modded clutch basket billet clutch slave support bracket
garrett gt25 turbo charger
tial 38mm wastegate
small dump pipe k&n cone filter
alloy plenham chamber
fuel m,ment MBE 9A4 ECU
MODIFIED HARNESS TO SUIT ECU
3 BAR MAP SENSOR
h/d FUEL PUMP
HEAVY DUTY FUEL INJECTORS
TOP HATS AND CLIPS
EBOOST 2 BOOST CONTROLLER
NEW REGULATOR/RECTIFIER

ohhhhh yea and a vid of bill giving it some

Disconnect the boost controller and see what happens. If you get wastegate spring pressure then the boost controller is at fault

progress at last
went down to dyno mutts this morning and he fitted the new 3 bar MAP sensor, and it started boosting, not much though, so further investigation discovered the throttle bodies on cylinders 3&4 were lifting under boost along with the plenum. it looked more like ejecting Once this was sorted first run saw 175bhp @6 psi then another @ 216bhp @7psi and then 242bhp at 8psi. Fueling is still a little rich at WOT and lean off boost, but that will be sorted once the thing is boosting to the required pressure, bill recons there is still a boost leak somewhere which will be tracked down over the next few days, then he can start to adjust the fueling via the MBE ECU, using the Easimap6 software
and find those missing 40+ ponies

heres our starting point

Hi guys
all weve managed to do is find problems but we are getting there
last post we had the bike boosting pushing 242bhp @ 8 psi bill (Mustapha dump to you lot)
couldent get the bike to boost higher than 8 psi so reckoned since the wiring loom has been hacked about so many times could be creating an issue with the eboost
his answer redo it he got rid of the over complicated eboost i got hold of some new guages
and sorted them to fit bill rewired them and cut another hole in my tank:)

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/dials5.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/dials2.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/dials3.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/dials4.jpg

result was 288bhp 160lb/ft at 12 psi.
bill says "This was the first test of the new boost control system.
The new spec is
1st stage 8psi on the wastegate spring alone 240bhp, push the button and 2nd stage is engaged which sends boost pressure to the top of the diaphram, when the boost pressure reaches the desired level the adjustable boost pressure switch in the plenum

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/plen22.jpg

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/plen21.jpg

switches the 3 way air solenoid and the wastegate opens, the new system allows boost pressure from 8 to 18 psi, simply by winding in the adjuster on the pressure switch in the pleneum. The system is designed that in the event of power failure or component failure the boost will default to the low setting

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/dials71.jpg

A latching push button is mounted between the new digital boost gauge and matching digital temp gauge supplied by Visual Performance, when the 2nd stage is active a red warining LED in between the gauges illuminates, this LED goes out when the wastegate opens.

seperate subloom was built for the new boost control to avoid having to do anything to the existing wiring system. The valve clearances on several of the intake valves were far too tight and the intakes were holding open slightly when the motor got hot.

The graph attatched was the first test of the new system and managed 288bhp and 160lb/ft of torque at 12psi.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/SpartsTurboBusaboostcontrol1sttest.jpg

on high boost, bill was going to turn the boost up and get it to 300bhp but the fucking wiring gremlins have raised there fucking heads again bill managed a couple of runs but the ignition keeps breaking down one minute its fine next not
result you touch the wiring loom you dont know if the bike will start or not or how its going to behave and to give bill his due his worry is it fails me whilst im overtaking or mid corner ect ect
the other major point is we want realiability so got to bite the bullet
pretty sure bill will add his two pence worth at some stage

so blasted off an email to jack at holeshot with the issues and the result
a full wiring harness for mbe ecu
Injector Sub loom
Map sensor input loom
and bill is going to build a seperate loom for the lights ect
hes already built a subloom for the boost control part of system
so when we get this sorted bill can finally map it in and fine tune it

just had a look at the last two sf mags ive missed looks like busabastard is doing the rounds:)

Well so far I've hit 292bhp with the new boost control system I've built for the bike, however the biggest problem is the wiring loom, which is pretty fucked!! It has been hacked about left, right, and centre, and is causing the bike to die intermittantly, so a new MBE Busa loom is on its way from Jack at Holeshot, once this arrives I'll fit it which will take care of the engine management side of things, I will then build a custom loom to run the rest of the bike, so effectitvely it will have two sublooms, one for the motor management and one for the ancillliaries, it will also have a small seperate harness running the new boost control system. This means that the wiring will be much easier to work on should it need other systems adding in at a later date, and it will stop the problems I'm having with the bike cutting out intermittantly.
Once this is done the bike will then have the mapping tweaked, the copy of the original map that Jack sent me is pretty good, and just needs a little adjustment.
When finished the adjustable boost control will allow boost levels from 8psi to 18psi. In low mode the boost is controlled by the spring in the wastegate alone, when the second mode is activated by the switch in between the boost gauge and temp gauge, boost pressure is applied above the wastegate diaphram, when boost pressure reaches the chosen level the adjustable pressure switch in the plenum switches off the solenoid controlling the boost pressure above the diaphram and the wastegate opens. The red LED illuminates when in high mode, and goes out when the wastegate opens. The whole system is designed so that in the vent of power failure or component failure the boost level will default to the lower setting. The initial test of the system achieved 283bhp and then 292bhp before the wiring issues raised their ugly heads again, so watch this space, next time I post we should be seeing the 300bhp target.

so with that lot done bike was sent off to tim who mapped the bike problem we had was that the bike was running really rich and on power felt like we had a fueling problem all was checked that we could check busa dave went through it with a fine toothcombe all was good so when tim got it within 5 mins on the dyno sussed the prob tps was wired wrong that sorted bike was mapped and running lovely 230bhp low boost
still got to map high boost but we need to rewire that part as tim wasent happy with the set up so thats a job for him after summer
so all thats left for me to do noz bottle powdercoated being done this week new air filter ordered brackets for lights being done this week new lock up clutch on order due next two weeks

FFUK is on Sunday the 16th of June Spart. I'd like to see the Busa up there if ya can make it. I'll be up there with the dyno truck and some of the bikes that didn't make it to Brent Cross last year. I've just had a cracking day at Brands Hatch for the opening round of BSB, good ride there and back, excellent view from the hospitality box overlooking the start line, really nice lunch laid on, and the ZRX1000R ran faultlessly there and back although it did drink fuel rather heavily as Mart and I ragged the bikes mercilessly for almost 300 miles. My neck is sore as fuck now and I'm knackered, the windblast on a naked bike at over 150mph is pretty severe. I'm off to bed for a much needed kip.

took out the bike over the weekend found that on tickover it was hunting and what sounded like an air leak
so gave mr bruno a shout had a good look around and found no leaks from the turbo system but what was concerning was throttle body no4 was lifting
first thoughts bad spark ruled that out then coil breakdown again ruled out as we went through every thing i spoted a spark from the inside of the engine bay dave then investigated and spoted the vapour coming out of the bottom of the throttle body checked the rubbers all fine so somehow i had a hole in the throttle body
cut a long story short we went looking for a second hand set just so happened dave had a spare set of busa throttle bodys in his garage as you do :)
the scary bit was what we found
1.the hole for the injectors were not drilled out correctly every single hole had damage which someone had sealed with sealent on one side
and on the other the had used chemical metal to seal and then repainted them
2. throttle body four was resembling a combustion chamber
3.even the boots mounting to the engine were silocined it looks like someone tried everything to stop any leaks couldent have been much worse just lucky we caught it in time

Shit, mate, you havnt had much luck with this turbo build!! You must be getting close to getting all the gremlins out now ;)
This find should relieve you of alot of your wierd running problems i suspect. Keep at it mate and cracking bike .

Fuckin' hell Al, when you described it on the phone to me I had thought the holes for the injectors had been bored too big and the injectors were held in with chemi metal, I didn't realise they actually broken through elsewhere. I'm amazed it didn't catch fire on the dyno. It makes a lot of sense now looking at how much trouble I had trying to synch the bloody things. I suppose in view of the rest of the issues with the thing we shouldn't be surprised though. The bike has been a real bag of surprises, not good ones either. I'm glad you've stuck with it though it would have been too easy to fuck it off before the turbo was rebuilt and the mapping finished.

set up of the original boost guage dont work to well in the tank, not the best idea to look down when you want to know how its boosting
so turbosmart boost guage and cup, original mounting stuff you get aint suited to the bike so plenty of head scrathing, made a mount under the speedo found an old rizoma res mount mod to fit think it worked out well

bill have a look at this or any one else who has an idea how to solve

HI Guys
see if any of you can help

got one of these

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/P1040164.jpg[

someone help me with this formula

hayabusa 2004
front sprocket 17 rear 40
wheel circumferance 198cm
4 pulses

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/moto_zps4679ef63.jpg (http://s15.photobucket.com/user/spart666/media/P1040164.jpg.html)

this what we came up with couldent and dont understand why they use impw 80 when it should be 4 so assuming they are doing that as an example

b/r = 17/40 = 0.425
4 x U = 4 x 198 = 792/b = 792/17 = 46.6
46.6/0.425 = 19.8

problem with this is
ok im assuming we enter 4 for impw and we are entering 19.8 cm for wheel circumferance ?
impw lets me input 1 to 99 so 4 for aint a problem
circ lets me enter 101 to 350 so i cant enter 19.8 and before you say try 20 cant do that either in the motogadget web site it says that the circ has to entered in CM so 101cm is the starting point i think im just thick

here are the instructions

You've miffed it a little bloke 46.6/0.425= 109.6 I'd go with 109 . You've multipled it instead of divided it is all.

Measure the wheel/tyre circumfrence in millimetres, EG 1960mm then calculate the sprocket ratio, IE 15/45 is 3 to 1, 14/45 is 3.21 to 1.
The Busa speed sensor creates 4 pulses per revolution of the front sprocket as do most Suzukis and Kawasakis
So for one revolution of the rear wheel EG1960mm travelled the number of pulses created will be 4 X 3.21 = 12.84
Divide the wheel/tyre circumfrence EG 1960mm by 12.84 = 152.6mm per pulse.

now if you can only set a certain number of pulses into your electronic speedo, simply multiply the distance per pulse by the number of pulses IE 5 pulses will be 5 X 152.6 = 763mm, so the speedo now knows that for every 5 pulses it receives it will have travelled 763mm.

If your distance input has to be between a pair of numbers then simply multiply the distance per pulse by whatever number you require to get into the correct zone, and then use the number you multiplied the pulse distance by, for the number of pulses.

So if you need to be in between 1000mm/100cm and 1600mm/160cm then multiply 152.6 until you get in between, so X10 would be 1526mm/152.6cm and X9 would be 1373.4mm/173.34cm

Always use the highest number of pulses you can enter into the speedo as this will give much better resolution and therefore greater accuracy and response.

As an additional bit of info, for those guys converting oilcooled GSXR and early Bandit motors to use the electronic speedo pick up, rather than drilling the output shaft to M6 in order to attatch the suzuki signal generator, it is far easier to simply use the sprocket nut from a ZX9R C/E/F models 98/03.
This bolts straight on, and just needs the edges trimming a little to fit into the cover, it generates 4 pulses per revolution of the front sprocket, and the Suzuki and Kawasaki speedo pick ups are identical, and it all works using the late model Bandit sprocket covers.
I have done this self same modification on a Slabby 1052 motor ( which already is drilled to M6) but I used the ZX9R sprocket nut, and it all works fine.

Your sprocket ratio is 2.35 to 1, this means that for every revolution of the rear wheel you will see 9.4 pulses. Each pulse travels 210.6mm or 21.06cm.

So you need to tell it how many pulses it will see and the distance travelled per 1 pulse is 210.6mm/21.06cm, so 10 pulses would be 2106mm or 210.6cm 5 pulses would be 1053.1mm or 105.31cm

As long as you know your 210.6 times tables you'll be fine!!!

1 pulse = 210.6mm/21.06cm
2 pulses=432.0mm/43.2cm
3 pulses=642.26mm/64.22cm
4 pulses=864.0mm/86.4cm
5 pulses=1074.6mm/107.46cm

etc etc etc

Anyone reading this will realise i have cocked up the numbers slightly, but it was late and I'm not great with my 210.6 times tables!!!

exactly what i thought knew you back up my theory:confused:
il sort it out tommorow thanks again bill
on the fuel pump issue defo one fuel line ie the 10mm bit is way to soft so probably collapsing when hot creating my fuelling issue when the bike warms up, got the fuel pump out and it will fit in the back of the bike so going to mount it away from the engine which inturn should get rid of any issues with the fuel lines getting pinched and restricting the flow
spot on on the breather from the fuel cap all clear and looks like its venting just got to make sure i run the lines correctly, so all the niggly bits getting slowly sorted, all going well gonna take it for another spin on sat to see if ive sorted it
cheers mate

hi all been a while
been out playing with the busa

so last post was about that fucking speedo all sorted now thanks more gremlins reared there ugly head
bike runs fine get into 6th put the power down and feels like fuel starvation turn engine off back on again fine
thought it was a prob in top gear decided to let the boost cut in on third and open it up and it did it again
so looked at the fuel lines replaced them and re-routed still there
checked fuel pressure all ok
pump looks like it may have a problem or could be getting to hot in engine bay
so replaced with bosch 044 good for 600 bhp and decided to mount in the rear ot the bike and use armoured fuel hose doing this meant nice straight fuel lines to the tank and fuel rails

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a389/spart666/IMG_1535_zps2b71bc3c.jpg (http://s15.photobucket.com/user/spart666/media/IMG_1535_zps2b71bc3c.jpg.html)

unit just about fitted had to mod the subframe a bit due to the new pump being bigger
guess what still dident sort it out so great unless you put the power down was going to take
it back to get remapped then bill asked me about the aftermarket cap yes it was venting but his thought was not enough so on his advice we drilled the vent hole out in the pertol cap
AND IT NOW GOES LIKE STINK
a 5 min fix be warned after market petrol caps

any way since then been out loads bikes behaving boosting lovely waiting till winter to get secondry boost sorted by timblake moore and stainless dave is going to be playing with the bike looking at a spondon look tubular arm one off

some bike pics taken recently with a mates faired busa

a week later i fell of it and i mean fell off it sitting on the bike leant over to switch on the ignition i was at an angle and over it went with my mate in fucking hysterics
damage crushed coolent bottle and bent turbo filter was lucky no other damage bodged it up and carried on playing for the day

You may have just solved my issue. My bike runs well till I give her some beans then she just looses power. Hit the kill switch off and then on again and she's all good. Have an aftermarket bllet fuel cap fitted and I realised that it was creating a decent amount of pressure int he tank on my K4 as it was not venting. Seems like this might be the issue of the power loss then. I will drill the cap and see how I go. What size did you drill to equalise the pressure?

souinds identical to what was happening to mine
went 3 times the size about 2 mm on the inner part of the cap and put a 1/2 mm hole in the cap itself off set when lined up so 1/4 mm opening no issues bikes boosting and going like a train

yea simon aint seen her much over the last 2 weeks however got to paint the house so modding up the new rad in the evrenings :)

set up the fans and 2008 rad has a threaded hole in the side ideal for the coolent bottle had to muck about with one of rad lines as too short
need to get my mate to flatten and thread another hole in my inline hose mount for thre thermal sender then finished

tryingout a pipercross filter 20mm wider and taller but more air also think it fits well with the bike had to get a silicon sleve made up to connect bout nice and sdolid aint going nowere let you know how it goes
