As if it needs another reason! Seriously though, if I had to guess, it looks like he's trying to keep the pipe lengths equal for balance purposes? I don't know if it makes any difference in the real world, but it does look cool.

I'm loving the tail lights too. Getting some pretty good ideas from projects like this...
