Thats a fair effort. The climbing up part is always the easiest IMHO, heaps harder to come back down. Ya'd wanna take a parachute up the top and jump off, to save the climb back down, lol.

I was thinking you wouldnt want to many dodgy Kebabs / Curry / Guinness's the night before.
Then again it gives a whole new meaning to "long drop" loo's !!!

I've been to the top of GMV6 tower on mount major when I worked for Angus comumications in shep, no free climbing allowed but it was very cool looking down to see the tower swaying 4 feet left and right.

Even better was the other tech that put his finger between a pair of bus bars out at the transmitter base once we got down and had about 100,000 watts blow the end of his finger off into vapor to the first knuckel with a loud bang, and him just get out his trusty side cutters trim off the bannana Peeled end of his now much shorter finger with a white blank expression on his face and say "Glad I don't have to climb that fucking tower now!" haha

Thats the most amazing footage i've seen, made me feel Ill at times.

You couldn't pay me enough for that whether I was capable or not.

You'd reckon dropping from a helicopter or something would be quicker.

I met one of those guys who was employed to inspect the radio towers in Exmouth and tried to get out of him what it was like but he was too pissed to make sense of, (So was I!)

Fucken awesome !

I did three months as an apprentice linesman. In Australia you have to do what's called 'attached climbing' where you have one sling around the pole at all times or Workcover will fine and suspend you. Doubt you'd find any shrunken dick inspectors at 1700 feet!

Oh yeah, most linies are confirmed alcoholics after hours. Never while working.

Thats all fine going up, the dangerous part is down climbing.

I've had a few falls climbing and the worst one was down climbing, i hit the deck from 7M and walked away:D

The only part of that i didnt like was how he clipped in at the end.
Put the screw gate on the plate then putting the safety hook through the gate is dodgy as fuck. People die from that shit[xx(]

I got a rush watching it.

I could do it, but at 500 + m I'd be wearing a parachute. Because there is no way I'd be able to resist the urge to take a leap and enjoy the trip down
