Hey all First Post,

I have finally decided to bite the bullet and Streetfighter my old Honda VF750FD, Yes i know its old but first attempt and all that...

One of my questions has anyone used the ducati SSSA and what wheel options did you use, cant afford to buy the proper one yet unless one comes cheap on fleabay.

I quite like the Idea of using a car wheel but have only seen post with people using the VFR750 swingarm.

Reason for using Duke one is that i got a load of duke parts off my mate who had stripped his 916, gave up and sat in his garage for a couple of years sadley he has just sold the engine and wheels :(

Many thanks in advance

Dougie

Hey Dougie,

Heres a thread on SSSA's with different car rims to give you an idea of how some look..

SSSA Car Rim Options (http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19098&SearchTerms=car
)

Head over to the welcome section and give yourself an intro mate and maybe some pics or a build thread would be good if your only just starting the mods, plenty of helpful blokes on here happy to lend a hand.

As I said in another thread where you mentioned this, I think Ducati swingers take a fair bit more work for a car rim than a VFR as they are single nut as opposed to the VFR's four. I could be wrong about this and if I am then no doubt someone will be along shortly to correct me.

I agree with Jacktar, I think you would have to change the whole Hub setup from single spindle to 4 or 5 stud.. to accept either a VFR or a car rim of your choice.. If heaps of modifying isnt your thing mate, I would definitely try and source an OEM 916/996/998 rim and keep it stock and easy, even after all these years I reckon they still hold there own in the looks dept..

Gday Dougie

As the boys mention the hub setups on ducs/trumpys are different to honda in that they are a single stub whereas honda have 4 studs - not sure on the duc but I know on my trumpy it is a single axle with 4 small locating pins on the hub face to hold the rim in place whn securing teh axle nut - I have heard of guys swapping rims between ducs and trumpys but even then not a straight swap and still need some mods

Cheers

Thanks all for your comments. Having thought about it, think it will be better to stick with the OEM wheel for the duke SSSA.

Pictured below is my stock Bike.

My First Brain Wave, which consisted of fitting a CBR600 front and back end on, hand to get a VF1kR yolks to take the F3 forks and wheels

OK so my new plan is to try and get the swingarms bearing swapped over (both Alloy) and the duke one should fit straight in and then worry about how to attach the shock. Also am going to see if i can get the yolks converted to fit into the VF frame :P
