Been thinking that my radiator would be a lot better if it was painted back, it stands out a bit as is. Is there a particular technique to doing, or is it ok just to mask off the hose fittings and let fly with the cans? And what's the best way to prep the metal for painting?

Rub it back lightly and just use some high temp paint. Just did mine

I've always just pulled the radiator off, taped up the holes, scuffed the main bits back with a scourer and used a spray pak of Satin black.
After all, your radiator should never go above 104 degrees when your fan comes on, and if it does you'll soon have bigger issues to deal with than peeling paint.
