I just got a quote to get the fork seals replaced on my USD forks.
I have taken the forks off the bike and am providing the fork seals (bought from them a while back so they can't pull the "sorry, wrong ones" trick).

Are they taking the piss by asking $180 for the job?

Whats their labour rate...dealers are charging $100 plus per hour...
Even the local marine engine place charges $80/hr for servicing..
How long does it take to do them ?

Rock Hard's shop charges $95 an hour. So labour plus fork oil, it sounds about right.

It cost me $180 to get my USD forks rebuilt - included seals and oil but I've been going to the same guy for 8 years and get parts at cost.
Oil wasn't cheap tho.

I paid about $70 for conventional forks earlier this year, I did supply the seals and oil, and removed the forks myself.

I paid $180 to get mine done. All oils and seals included. Rode in in the morning, took it home that night.

$100 cheaper than anywhere else around here. Got the seals in overnight, as opposed to a week like everyone else.

The only downside was that it looked like they used a shifter to take the tops off and rounded the nut a little....

Do em yourself mate.
First time is a learning process, but it aint hard. Then every other time is a piece of piss, and you know they are done right, and you save over $100 every time!

Or at least if they are wrong it's your fault and you have noone to blame but yourself.
