Hey.
I have never really played much with Suspension settings. I have just for myself a TL1000S and on rough roads it's like being in a Rodeo. I know that the rear shock is not the best and I am going throw a better one in but it has been checked and it is ok at the moment.
Basically what I wanna know is what way do I adjust the Suspension and The Damper to get a smoother (soak up the bumps a bit better)ride.
Cheers

First thing to do is to set the sag, have you done that yet? Usually about 25-35mm works for a road bike. You'll need a couple of extra bodies to make this easier, one to hold the bike and one to measure whilst you are sitting on it. I've got a good set up article that I'll post up when I track it down. Also how much do you weigh? You might need to re-spring the front forks to better suit ur weight too..

I have never played with suspension before. The TL is the first bike I have owned with this many ways to adjust things, I have just read some articles on sag so I best put on some beer and invite a couple of mates over 8)

Adjusting the rear suspension settings only adjusts ride height (often creating the illusion of softer or harder suspension) the only way to make the rear harder of softer (as far as I know) is to change the spring or remove coils from the current one.

Wasn't it the TL that came out with some kind of rotary rear shock that everyone rubbished???

Set your rear sag,and if you're right near the end of the thread on the shock body,you will probably have to go harder in the sring rate.
If you've never really tinkered with your suspension,set the sag,then go fully out on clickers,go for a ride,stop,set them in the middle settings,go for a ride,then pull over and go full in,ride,and feel the differences,just so you can get an idea,how adjustable your suspension is,and you might find,alittle either side of middle might be ok???
It might also help you understand whats happening,and maybe make it easier to explain to a suspension guy,whats wrong???

If not,here is a basic guide;

Hey thanks for all the info guys .. I know the basic one is crap .. been reading bout the ohlins and Bitubo, Seems the later is a bit of a pain in the ass I have been reading in the TL forums and the former costs an arm and a leg at 1290.00 quoted from Ohlins last week. 8) .. Basically I just wanna have to crap one run ok for the next few months while I save the dosh for one of the replacements.

Joe: Thanks for the offer I might just take you up on that 8)
Cheers
Mark
