Hey I'm looking for a bit of advise if anyone is clued up on Kawasaki ignition electrics.

In the couple years the 12r has been off the road I've managed to loose my keys and barrel. No huge drama (hopefully), the Australian 2003 zx-12r doesn't have an immobiliser and I'm actually been planning on running a keyless start using RFID swipe cards.

Here's the thread based on what I'm planning to build. I'll write up a how to if I get it running. All credit to these guys, it looks like some good work.

The circuit I'm looking at using is a direct replacement for the key barrel. Now if I am reading this right (and the thread on page 9) then I just need to run my power (White wire) to pin 30 (the red line) and my ignition and ECU wires (Brown wire and Grey wire) to pin 87 (the orange line). The two additional relays will power headlights and other accessories.

Can anyone confirm this as I am a numpty when it comes to electrics and frying my ECU would equal a really bad day.

One other question, does the zx-12r run any kind of resistor to ECU to try and prevent someone hot wiring the bike.

The gray wire coming off your ignition switch needs a 100 ohm resistor in line before it goes to your ECU. This was Kawasaki's anti hotwire feature from the early 2000's.

Other than that, I had a look over here when I did the ZX9 remote:

Nice, thanks mate. That 100 ohm resistor must be pretty common. Its the same on the early 2000 GSXRs going by that forum.

I think Fimp has used RFID on his tiller. not sure if he ironed out the kinks or not, though.

I'm having a crack at building mine from scratch... just because I'm a masochist and a tight arse. It's a dangerous combination.
