How small is too small for a GSXR1100 oiler exhaust?
The can I bought from dan dan is only 51.5mm and Im a lil concerned it may be a bit too restrictive, can I get away with this safely or not?

The internal diameter on my slash cut is smaller then that on my 1100W mate! Give it a go n see how she feels...

Standard measured 30mm across the outlet each side mate so 51.5mm will be just fine...

But is that not 60mm total?

Two 30mm pipes is a area of 14cm2 one 50 mm pipe has an area of 19.6cm2 so flow is increased considerably.

A single 50mm pipe will be a big enough increase if straight through to justify rejetting probably. A ride with lots of crackel at low loads crusing will prob indicate a lean deal, if your carbs are older (jets a little warn) I wouldn't worry to much as its prob running a little rich anyhow, intake mods make more of a difference on bikes with CV carbs anyhow.

A 50mm pipe straight through will flow enough air for over 250 hp without any real restiction so You be just fine with the 1100. Its the Muffler thats gives you your restriction more so than the tail pipe diameter.

2 x 30 mm pipes = 14.1 cm^2
Jets wear out?

Ok.

So while we are on the subject, has anyone got any wisdome on the ideal header sizes (Pipe ID) for GSXR1100 (1196 actually).

I am runing a 4 - 1 set up currently with header pipes of 35mm ID. Someone told me once that I would get more power with 40mm+. This seems awefully big to me.

Cheers

Peter.

If you need to change change them to a bandit 1200 set.

Hey Red Thanks for the size, it inspired me to go and do the research on how to calculate the area inside a circle.

Haha There is kinds of crap rattling around in my head pitty I cant get it out in the right order lol A few bangs on the head from bad car accidents in the past and a little alcohol abuse has made it mostly mush lol
