Anthea learned to ride today on Helen's 125 pitbike on the driveway of my factory complex, she started off a bit tentative but after a few minutes she was doing no handed highchairs & no handed backwards stoppies (?!?) I couldn't get any pics of the stunting action because she was going so fast they all blurred. ;)

Thanks Kate, green is my favourite colour & it actually fit my boobs...bonus! Doing my 2 days learners course this Thurs/Fri & hope to get Mike on the road in 2 weeks time. So I may just be up to scratch for a ride soonish. Yay!

Practice slipping the clutch and riding real slow with your feet on the pegs (is prob the trickest bit for your L's test for beginers) once you have that sorted everything else will already be easy as.

Wicked! Good to see ur gettin into it. The L's test is a walk in the park. They assess it so people who have never riden b4 can pass it (actually the instructors words) Basically if u fail it, u dnt belong near a bike. U'l b fine! Lookin forward to seein some ride pics soon then! :D

Thanks for all the support guys, I'm far more confident about passing after yesterday. Didn't fall, didn't stall on take-off, didn't lose control...it's almost a miracle! (Then again watching YouTube is a good way of learning from other people's mistakes [:0]) So I'm hoping I can announce finally being on my Ls this Friday afternoon. It's only taken 7 months longer than I discussed with Jo at last year's Christmas party lol.

Really chuffed about Mike, he'll start co,ing back togerther this week. He'll be much prettier but still unmodified since he has to go for his RTA inspection. After that, I can start the fun stuff :D

And Darren, you're still in the shit!

Day 1 over. So far, so good! Just gotta remember to keep my right wrist down so I don't twist the throttle when braking but that didn't happen very often anyway. Really enjoyed myself, though I'm still freezing my bum off after a day in the rain. Rode over the low speed part of the test a few times & it was fairly easy. Fairly confident I'll get through it.

Oh, you guys! LOL.

Made it through with a big fat PASS! Yay! However, as my drivers licence says S (specs for driving) but I listed reading glasses on my VicRoads permit application, I have to go through the trouble & expense of dragging my arse down to the docs for an eye test & get my VicRoads "will the driver drop dead at the wheel?" form signed off. Can't get in there until Monday. Especially bloody annoying as I had my eyesight tested a couple of months ago by an optometerist & was certified as have road legal vision then. Bloody stupid rulebook VicRoads petty tyrants... So it'll be about a week before I have my official permit paperwork. Doesn't really matter I suppose, with Mike stilll in pieces.

p.s. Despite my extreme inexperience I have already found that being stuck behind someone who is slow & lacking in confidence is a pain in the rear. Oh well, when I first hit the streets, that person will be me :)

Us lovely ladies might not build the best bikes but we have a go and put our heart & soul into our mechanical babies. I think working on your bike and knowing your bike can also make you a more confident better rider.

If you plan to ride you ride!!!! No matter the weather or other shit. Best way to get practice in all types of conditions. With different people not just Geoff.

You move you own bike, you just don’t ask someone else to move it just cause ya a girl!!
I don’t care how long ya legs are, how small you hands are....... adapt, change your bike make it suit you, above all be comfortable and in control
Ask, talk to friends, fellow riders etc etc............... Source information from all different riding skills/styles and see what suits you and your bike best. Your got ASF your set, there is no way I could have built my 11 without the advice and help of the people on ASF.

And IMPORTANT.................. If it can be hottered up, chopped up, more power go faster!!!!! Take every chance you can to have a go.

Thanks for the tips Jo. After 9 years as a volunteer firie in the CFA I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, doing things for myself or taking a carefully calculated risk...and I'm used to being out in the rain! Reckon it was good training for this :D
