FighterMC, where did you put your battery? I'm trying to decide what to do with mine right now. Thanks

Smokey i have it under the tank long side the coolant bottle

damo1

Yeah sos mine all the electrics are under the tank from the rear sud frame
aswell as the battery.

Smokey74

Thanks guys.. I'll try to figure it out. If either of you have any pics of how you did it, that would be great.

I also wanted to ask, do you know if the VFR 400 single sided swing arm will work on the Blade? To me, it looks the same as the VFR 750 but I'm not sure. Thanks again.

Not sure but it is shorter.

damo1
16-05-2007, 05:28 PM
The 400 one has a single nut in middle of the wheel and the 750/800's have four nuts holding on the wheel if you want a quizz somebody about the 400 arm ask Mundy hes got one in his gixer 11 but i know hes running a 18" rear wheel and a skinny fucker at that.:D

Oh by the way i dont have any photos of it but if your in no great hurry i may be able to get some this weekend for you;)

Did you want photos of under the tank or just the sub frame where its all been removed[?]

And i still have the voltage regulater in the orig spot but just extended the wiring ot suit.

Fighter did you make up a sub frame or is it a moded orig one[?]

FIGHTERMC

Damo i made up a subframe it was easier
than trying to mod the original one.

No mate but if i'm taking off the tail i'll
take one.it's made out of box steel{powder coated} cos it
is easier to weld.

Yeah, no big hurry..

Some pics of both areas would be good. I'm making my own subframe.

Thanks for the info on the VFR400 arm, doesn't sound like it will work for me. I want to run a 6 inch wide wheel and if it's shorter, that won't work either..

If you take your tail off, snap a pic for me. I was looking at mine last night, I can see the space in front of the coolant bottle on top of the engine case but I'm just not sure how to mount the battery box in there.

i'll get a pic of it up after the weekend and you'll

I did exactly the same thing;)

Mines mounted on top of the engine under the carbs on the right hand side of the bike if you try to put it on the left the tank fuel tap hits it theres no room it is fairly cramped in there with all that shit plus the fuel tap/fuel filter/fuel lines so trial fit it all before comiting to it.:D

This a top shot of all the shit in there as you can see it all has to go on the right because the fuel tape and neck has to go down on the left:)

This shot is so you can see the box on top of the motor and also the bracket coming out and bolted to the orig fairing bracket on the frame;)

Just another shot through the frame so you can see how close it is to the coolant bottle.

Hope this helps;)

As fighter said we used the orig battery boxcut out of the inner guard and then just made brackets to suit.:D

I started by just sitting the battery in the box on the motor and made my brackets up from there the CDI unit is on top of the battery and held down with the orig battery strap.;)

It aint pretty in there but it does the job and you can only see it when the tank is off:D

My god Damo. I thought I had cramed a lot of shit in there. But I am impressed. Especially with the bat and overflow in such a confined area. I ended up taking the bottle out all together when I put the battery box in there.

my subframe,fucking rectifier went
the other day and made shit of my battery
too so if your doing a move on the rectifier
make sure you have it earthed correctly and
bolted down to somewhere it can release the heat.
also put an extra earth going to the battery from
it and you should be ok not like me.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing Scrapyard.. So you don't run a bottle at all?

I suffer from a little OCD, so I highly doubt I could live with Damo's rats nest but that's just me. That shit would keep me up at night..

FighterMC has the ideal set-up but I'm not 100% sure I can make it work like he did. I'm definately gonna try..

Thanks for all the pics, at least now I know what others have done and hopefully I can come up with something similar that I'm happy with. My subframe is almost done and my fiberglass tail should be here in about 3 weeks. I'll post up pics of where my battery ends up.

I suppose the one thing you have to remember is that i still have the entire wiring loom in the bike i havnt cut it down at all so if i ever want to go back to orig i can do it with minimal fuss all the orig body work tank and all the other shit is in excellent condition and in bubble wrap in the garadge.:D

Yeah, I just pluged off the over flow hose and called it a day. Works well, just need to run the coolent level a little lower so it has room to move.

You could drill 2 holes in the arm,one at the back of the arm
and one in the front of it and feed the brake line through it
and that will solve the problem for you mate.

Hey Fighter, you have any good ideas for my rear brake line? I'd rather not put the stock chain guard on but there aren't many options.

If your using the 800 arm...
