I work with a bunch of people at my office and one of them is a upholsterer/trim guy. He has some awesome stuff appear downstairs so I wasn't surprised to see this when I walked through this morning. I was surprised to find out that this car is actually a present from this guy to his mum. She asked for a new car and this is what he's doing for her! He (Deluxe trimming) does some good work hey?

He also does bike seats and all if you're in SE QLD and interested in someone local.

Here's some more of his work in video format: http://vimeo.com/8909194

Sadly, the wheels don't.
I have a mate with a black XP wagon. With stock wheels and white wall tyres it looks fantastic.
I have never understood why people put modern wheels on old cars. It always looks so tacky.

Even more sad is that I have to agree with Dan.

Apparently the crossflow 6 was introduced in 1976 as a cast iron headed engine. 80 0r 81 the alloy head was introduced. The windsor ones were sprints imported from the states I think, the weren't released from Ford with any V8s.

It's ok Rod,
A few years ago a bloke used to race an XL ute at Willowbank. Tony O'Connor was his name. Beautiful ute it was and used to wheelstand and run 9 second passes.

That coupe looks great Si. Like a few othrs sat though, the wheels don't suit it.

[8D]well your soughta wrong and right the american xl,xm coupes were all 289,v8,,all the aussie xl,xm coupes were 170 pursuit motors,,u know like a 173 holden donk,,2.8 litre,,trust me im a ford nut;)

i think you will find those wheels are billets and if that is a 6cyl it will be a 170 unless someone put a 200 or 250 pre crossflow in it.
but looking at the dish on the rear rims it could be mini tubbed and have a 289 or 302 windsor in it and seeing that it has a usa shifter in it id say its a V8 for sure....

I don't think they made an XL coupe, XM and XP only, at least in Australia anyway. All six cylinders, 144ci in the XM and 170 in the XP. V8s were available in the USA, starting with 260ci, I think the 289 was not fitted till 1965. Of course I could be talking shit but I think this is right.
Bloody good looking car, despite the shagpile mats and CD player.

1960–1966 - Australian cars..

1 - XK - no coupe
2 - XL - no coupe
3 - XM - coupe available
4 - XP - coupe available

Oh Kato you're gonna hate me but I've got a spare BA Turbo motor just sitting on the engine stand waiting for something like that.

Very Very Nice Ride.

Haggar, I've been thinking about putting the turbo motor into a Capri or Cortina for a while! What are your plans with the motor? Are you going for big HP?

Hagarr
13-07-2010, 05:49 PM
Its a high miler Pappas out of my BA and cooked the turbo so was cheaper to buy a complete motor with computer and re-fit in to my BA.

I don't know what to put it in yet still trying to think outside the box, something different that hasn't perhaps been done before, which may proove difficult.

Its not difficult to get decent power out of these ebgines but not sure if I am ging all out, will probably decide when I decide what its going in whether it needs big numbers or even just mildly tuned.

I've had my standard computer flashed and I've got 300 bhp at the tyres with no fuss at all, i've heard 900+ for these babies with some internals done, watch this space.

These things have shitloads of Torque so if going in a small car won't need too much playing with.

Yeah I've been following their builds on a forum for a while! I had 400hp out of mine and that was quick! 900hp is just insane! I've got an AU XR8 and the thought of putting Turbo motor in it has crossed my mind a couple of times.
