I love what you are doing. Not enough fightered 2nd gen Bandits if you ask me.
The placement of the Acewell may be an issue though. I have the same unit and even at a slight angle it is far from waterproof (leaks through the buttons) so you may run into problems with it recessed like that because water will sit in there forever.

Cracking work bud. Yep not that many full-on 2nd Gen bandits out there. Saw a pic of yours before bought my basketcase n changed me mind. Have as much scope for mods as old bandits.

2nd generation was a total pain, there was some f'ing and blinding b4 it looking like anything, old type is much easier,,,

I've only seen a very few second gen Bandits that I like and that's one of them.
Can't wait to see what you do with the seat and swinger
TheBogyman
20-06-2010, 08:12 PM
swinger and seats will likely be the same as before, the swinger i am going to try and rework to use the exsisting vfr hub and hopefully fit a single nut wheel on it, (using some bits off a vfr400 / nc30 hub)ill up the progress on that one,, the main aim this time was to tidy up some loose ends that had been bugging me from the last build, and add some things like remote start, engine needed a rebore, so things really grew from there, i really had'nt intended to get into it as far as i did, but you know what way thing spiral, the wiring as i said was a big one, and my mate's a painter, hence the colour change,,

Sorry for taking so long to post some updates, the bikes all but completed, but theres so much in between that i need to share, i wanted to use a triumph rear wheel, but still run with the vfr arm, and hub,,,yes hub,,dont know if this has ever beed tried before, but heres my version, like it or now, its on and running ok,,
TheBogyman
27-10-2010, 04:55 AM
first i bought an vfr400 rear hub,,fleebay, cant remember but it was buttons,,then went about removing the center splinned bushing,,,

TheBogyman

removed and machine the center bush to fit inside the vfr one fitted on my bike
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288190704.jpg
TheBogyman
27-10-2010, 05:11 AM
then filled in the old stud holes ,and machined the pattern to match the triumhp wheel
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288171952.jpg
TheBogyman
27-10-2010, 05:13 AM
the bush off the vfr400 was welded inside the vfr axle after i machined a small collar in the axle for the bust to press into, sorta hard to explain, but you get the general idea,,
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288202730.jpg
TheBogyman
27-10-2010, 05:17 AM
then made a bush to press onto the remaining part of the axle to locate the wheel, this looks brutal in the photo, but it was a first fit, its been machined down since then, looks a damed site better,

27-10-2010, 05:19 AM
another view, then machined a collar to screw against to fit the triumph wheel,,

next up i setup the dyna ign, and test ran her, but all wasn't well, after £1500,00 of hard earned cash, a rebore, and rebuild from Holeshot, lasted 15 miles, then she let go,,bottom end top end the whole 9 yards,,,totally scrap,,,,but hey,,thats the way she goes,,needless to say there were some noise from me in the holeshot workshop,,but to no avail,,,alass another engine was sorced,,,no to get it in without scrapeing the shit outta everything in site,,

And as for the cheaper germanic control box,,total waste of £150.00,,fell apart,,,relays fell apart, i sourced some new ones, and repairs lasted no time, capasitors came loose from the board causing no end of electrical problems,,,so bought an m-unit, but aint arrived yet, hopefully that will sort ou the ele problems,,,

Nice build so far bud. I really like allot of the custom work done, Can you answer me a couple of things...
Are they the 36mm bandit CV carbs you are using and if so, what main jets are you running and have you raiser the needles at all?
Running a bandit myself, trying to get a handle on the CV carbs without airbox.

Since this pic i fitted a full Akrapovic race system, carbon tri can, this under engine one kept hitting the ground on right hand fast corners,,not so good,,,so fuked it off and bit the bullet, Ben made me a tidy set of switches,,,well neat, and a 50T rear vfr sprocket, which has proved fun,,,;)

Im not the guy to ask, but i can tell yea i'm running 40mm carbs, 91100m gixer,) with stage 3 dynojet kit fitted, i have just up'ed the mains to 155, as she was running shit, but it really needs dyno'ed proper, so ill take it to a guy local who doe's a lot of race bikes, my mates swear by him,,so ill let yea know the outcome,,
