View Full Version : what engine could fit gpz1000rx??

hey guys! ive finaly got abit of money together to start my first project:D just on the look out for the right bike! ive come across a gpz1000 '86 already has abit of work on it so gives me a good start as im new to a build! thing is the engine has over 80k and dont sound too healthy[xx(] and goin by the wreakers and shops ive been ringin around its hard to come across a replacement and a re;build would send my budget to shit!! anyone got any experiance in fitting a diff engine into a gpz1 frame or would it even be worth the trouble..... not much to play with in the funds dept! maybe 7grand if im lucky.... was also thinkin of a modern zx10 front end on there too or am i just dreamin[:p] any info would be much appreciated cheers!

do a seach mate there somewhere on here is some post from a bloke who put a zx12r motor in a gpz900

i thought the bike was a gpx1000 ,,,,gpz550 gpz750,,,gpz900rr hmm wondering do you live in victoria john ,,i think i was talking to you through ebay about your bike cheers pete

John, have you had a good look at a a naked GPZ1000 frame/moteur? Have you spent an hour or two going through the random streetfighter pics here to see what can be done with one- (I'm hoping there's a couple in here)-

Just about any moteur can be made to fit if you've got a big enough hammer/wallet[:p]

thanks for the info guys,but i came across sens bike for sale here so i snapped it up! all the hard work is done:D...but im sure i can add abit more!! thanks again ps im in nsw pete,different john i think!!

thats the one large he was there with his mate he said its a stock 12 motor in it starts 1st time ever time and runs like a dream top bike lol

Pretty sure the RX, ZX10 and early ZZR engines were all the same shape. I had a ZX10 with a ZZR1100 engine in it:

Which in turn wasn't much different to the ZRX was it?
I do realise this topic is moot but the info may still be handy for someone?

ZRX is basically a ZZR bottom end with a side drought head instead of a semi down drought. ZZR cams can be fitted to the ZRX heads too.
