Evening folks,
As it stands, im under strict instruction to clear all unnecessary toys to make way for *insert wifey reasoning here*

The CBR600 project is for sale as you may have seen in the "For Sale" section. However;

My Wonderful ZX12r has taken a turn for the worst. As i was heading home from work the other day, i suddenly lost head-unit power, then throttle control. Having gotten it home, the bike still turns over& cranks & everything works as per normal, however its as if the spark-plugs / injectors arent firing. Ive pulled out all three looms and replaced them with genuine Kwaka ones, and the next step (as ive been told) is to replace the Ignition CDI + Ignition barrell + lock set (all being mocrochippedly lined).

Basically what i ask of you guys, is if you were looking to sell the bike as soon as possible * running or not-running * What would you do? Whats a non-running but mechanically wonderful ZX12r ninja fighter worth? Its going to be $1500+ for the new ECU & lock set, is it worth fixing, or do i just part it out / sell it whole?

Mr Insurance didnt want to bother with it, as aparently my RS3 Yoshi + Power Commander 3 upset them a little. So im stuck with a $7k paperweight [V]

All opinions are welcome on this one

Ben

Killswitch is in the "run" position, but when i turn the key, the fuel-pump doesnt prime (as it always does). I gave it 12volts manually and it primes no worries. Odd?

The wife is actually the fiance, and also wants me to get something more comfortable / fully-faired so we can do some touring

If it's an 05 on 12r, your key might be fucked

Yes its an Oct' 05. Key being fucked is still $1000 from Kawasaki for a new one, but what if thats not the problem? How can you tell if it is the key and not the ECU or something? Im lost here as to the right answer, and as much as bike mechanics know their stuff, im not about to hand over the GDP of Venezuela for him to tell me its fucked (i already know that)

No spare Large, only came with 1 key, and never got around to a spare. Umm i thought the key, ignition barrell & ECU all were linked by microchip so they all had to be a matching set to be compatible?

Is it showing a fault code, busa's give a key/lock error code if the correct signal is not read, this includes your mate standing there talking to you with his key in hand too close to your immobiliser and the immobiliser /key orientation not correct

Buy a US Computer they don't use immobilisers over there.

Or if your absolutely sure the immobiliser and ecu are not friends anymore, (i would find that surprising ) there is someone advertising resetting the immobiliser for when keys are lost, on ebay uk .

Thanks for the advice guys. Im now led to believe that the Ignition Computer is cooked, as i was tidying up the old looms and noticed two burnt-out wires that run the length of the main loom from the battery to the rear ECU loom. Shit

New Lock set it might hafta be
