OK, the blank canvas:D
Got a real old school hill climber/fighter design in mind. Long term project, should take about 12 months to complete(I hope)

saw this on here a while ago, might use this as a basis for the 750 but want to do some different stuff i have seen on some old resto bikes. Classic look but current refinements:D
needed the old air cooled Zook donk to tie the whole look together.

Under the seat - you can see it in the RHS pic.
Hey Dazz - noice score. I had an 83 EF which gave me absolutely no dramas over the 6 years I had it. Was my first bike bike after a lame old GPZ250R.
Apparently it's not too hard to slot an early Gixxer 11 crank into them (same main bearing size) = longer stroke = more cubes = more fun....

Looks like under the front of the seat on the yoshi (right behind the carbs) or same spot but a few inches back on the red gsx (right behind the electric panel)

Hey Dazz,
I dropped the motor out of my old 1100EF by myself by taking out all the engine mounts (except the rear bottom and front), laid the bike over on an old tyre, undid the remaining mounts, then lifted the frame back up leaving the donk on the floor. Used the same method to put it back in too. Sounds dodgy, but it ended up being really easy.
Now you can send me a six pack for the tip....;)

Looking good Dazz. For a tail, maybe a newer under-seat-exhaust R1, Blade, CBR6 or ZX10....without the under-seat-exhaust? I've seen the Honda one without exhausts on a Gixxer Thou and it looked pretty neat.

dazz, it might be the pic thats decieving but it looks like your forks are a bit twisted and your rear rim has a nice dent in it. I hope im wrong.
should be a nice project
rear wheel is dented but has been that way for years without any dramas. Might send it to Silverwater to get fixed. Forks are straight though.
Jim, I am staying with the originals now. Going for the cheapest build I can for the best result.

I did something similar to my GSX.
pretty mild though, didn't go too crazy with mods as I like the look as is.
tried to clean out the mid frame area like the yoshi kat too.

Ed, your bike was what got me thinking;)
got a 81 GSX750 tank the other day for free but a little rusty on the inside.
Any tricks for cleaning this up apart from phosphoric acid and a handfull of washers as aggitators and shake the bejesus out if it?
total for build to date:
Bike $350
frame paint $9
tank $free
chain and sprockets $free (swapped for old unwanted parts had lying around)
Head stem bearings $free (as above)
Subframe steel $15
Total to date $374.00 :D [8D]

ty a magnet round a peice of fishing line and just drop it in there put an inline filter in the fuel line fill it with petrol and ride it [worked for me my VFR tank was horrific inside]
or get one of those liner kit things i think they come with a cleaning /descaling solution
btw well done on the scottish tight arse build mate :}

The POR stuff is good. Also, here's a link to an electrolysis method which uses no chemicals:
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2172&SearchTerms=rust,removal
Thanks for the links guys, might give both options a try.I have a couple of tanks and will see which gives the best result.
sourced a rear shock for $0 but rebound dampening is seized:(.
and length is about 45mm shorter than original but will sort it out:)
