Thanks for the feedback

I bought this 750 Katana 1981 Grey import (from Japan) on Ebay about 2 years ago, for about $1500 (Bargain). It was originally Black and in reasonable pretty stock condition. I had all the black panel work re sprayed for my 1100 Yoshimura lookalike, will post some picks of the 1100 on this forum later.

My 1100 is a 1984 model that I imported from Japan (The body work you see here on the 750 is the original stuff from the 1100. It is similar to the 1984 models that were imported to Australia, (the Black engine model), the only difference is in one of the pin stripes. The Australian model was Red and Orange, where as the Japan model was Red and Pink.

The bike has been completely stripped and rebuilt from the ground up, took about 12 months from start to finish. Have replaced most hex bolts with cap screws where ever possible (because I prefer the look of cap screws). All electrics are under the seat, bolted to a hand made alloy plate.

Frame was completely stripped of all the extra lugs, including rear master cylinder bracket and rear foot peg brackets, then strengthened in the suspect areas, then powder coated in Black Onyx (Black with sparkly bits). Had the battery box, fairing frame and tail frame done as well.

Front end is from a GSXR 750 (1993) Upside down front end, wheel, brakes, handle bars etc. The triple clamps are from a CBR Honda 900. The whole lot bolts together with a few little mods here and there, but pretty much goes together quite nicely.

Rear end is from a 1200 Bandit, including swingarm, wheel, calliper and hanger etc. Spacers are needed to fit the swingarm into the frame but these are easy to make up. The only other thing needed is a set of lugs to bolt the suspension onto.

Wheels are powder coated in Signal Red, this colour is a close match to the Red pin stripe on the tank and fairing, as I could not match the Suzuki Gypsy Candy Red.

Headers are from Formula 1, here in OZ. Exhaust can is a carbon fibre unit also on Ebay, Mid pipe is a custom job in Stainless steel from Fisher Performance Exhaust here in SA. Rear Sets (Foot pegs), were originally sourced from Ebay, but were crap. I had to re make the main brackets after much stuffing around, had them laser cut and then powder coated in Black Onyx. Rear foot peg brackets are from a GSXR, but I only have one on the right side to mount the exhaust can. No need for the left hand side (or rear foot pegs as this bike is just for me) – No pillions.

The front guard and tail fin are painted to match the red strip on the tank (Gypsy Candy Red). This was difficult as Suzuki will not tell you the formula for paint. They will tell you the name of the paint, but it doesn’t mean anything because now one knows the formula !!!

Anyway that’s pretty much all there is to tell. However if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

Thats a very tidy unit,i prefer to call it a Custom Modified Sports Bike.I had Formula 1 high flow headers with a custom stainless mid pipe by Maroochy Exhuasts on my old streetfighter and it was definately the shit,i still have the scars on my right leg to prove it.Top quality build mate, puts a lot of "streetfighters" to shame.Welcome to Hell.

There are some New Zealand guys who are working with locals to supply just about any bike you want http://www.trade.co.jp/

Great just for a look at some of the stuff you can get
