hi blokes

tried on lots of helmets on the weekend (its that time again)

looking for something colourful (sick of black)
and in fibreglass with a tinted visor for $450

the agv k4 seems like the way to go
was a small in that
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1273557199.jpg

was also a small in shark and hjc (although hjc fit betterer than shark)
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1273552886.jpg

anyways, was looking on the web and there are good deals going on icon airframes
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1273517119.jpg

small and extra-smalls are available (depending on the colour)
was just wondering if anyone had had any past experience with icon helmets and what sizes you happen to be in other brands

would appreciate the help, really dont have the time to be driving down to sydney to try things on any time soon...

Heya Fimp, yeah Des has one and i have the same as the above pic in grey, Mines a medium and I take medium in every helmet i've ever tried on so far.. if that helps. top quality helmet in my opinion, my $980 Suomy was great and at half the price i think these Icons are just as comfy..

My head shape is a ARAI head and the misses bought be the ICON without me trying nit on and its a bit tight front and back of head.
Both are large size but i hope the ICON will bed-in soon.

I have a HJC laying around in the shed next to an M2R, too fucking noisy for me, those damn vents whistled all the time. Neither fit me as snug as the Shoei in the same size either. The Shoei is 2 years old now and starting to whistle, I like the look of the AGV too, I wonder how noisy they are ?

Damn, they have gone up in price then.

My Xaus replica was only about $500 a few years back. In my opinion they fit exactly like an Arai and (at the time) were a whole lot cheaper.

i dunno gibbo
not much eye opening in that helmet, its not for racing cars is it?

oh, forgot to mention
if you look at the pic up top of the agv k4 it comes up really high at the back of the neck
so if anyone else was looking to get that it would be something to consider, it definitely put me off a bit

the other thing with the k4 was i only had a few mm of clearance to the bottom of my jaw
i could actually quite easily push the whole helmet forward just by moving my jaw out

im ordering the icon now from www.thehelmetwarehouse.com.au
i will let you know if it fits etc when it turns up, if it doesnt there will be a cheap icon up for sale ;)

ps- wtf happened there gitzy?

to elaborate,
i actually ended up ordering from thehelmetwarehouse at lunch yesterday (my internet at home was dicky...)

turned up by courier this morning
fits EXACTLY like an HJC (thanks blokes)
im very happy!

didnt get the flames, got "search and destroy" instead

it must be smaller in external dimensions than my rjays GP2, cos it doesnt fit in the box

so smaller, lighter, bad-ass-ier
im very happy :D

let you know about how it feels on the road later if you want

My Simpson helmet is for drag racing, and is like looking out a pillbox, bugger all side vision.
Dunno if they make road helmets.

REALLY liking the icon
its quieter wind-noise wise, i can hear the kat growl properly now :D

i tried opening the top vent for a minute last night, they DEFINITELY work (it was FRIGGIN COLD last night)
makes it noisier though, you can hear the air scooping

hey, as an update to this
i ordered some medium cheekpads (to fit into the size S helmet i got) from solomotoparts.com

now the helmet is absolutely spot-on with my uber-square shaped head

i must point out too that the rubber strip/spoiler along the bottom of the helmet definitely makes it more suited to an upright riding position, at full tuck it can tend to rub the back of your neck
i should point out though that i pretty much have no neck and am about 2 foot tall so that probably doesnt help...
