Ktm are in the process of making a direct injection 2 stroke motor. They are working along side an Australian company Orbital to produce an injector that can shoot compressed air and fuel into the chamber which will help with unburnt fuel escaping out the exhaust ports. The Powerband can be spread across the lower part of the Rev range and peak power figures from a 250cc should be the equivalant of a 4500cc 4 stroke! I for one can't wait till this comes out! 2 strokes will make a comeback in a big way IMO. More Power from less CC's, less weight, less moving parts so lower maintenance costs!

Oh and the rotary valvetrain in the motor in the link is genious!

We shouldn't have to. The main pollutant from a 2 stroke is the unburnt fuel not the oil. Evinrude and Skidoo have already got a DI or Semi DI 2 stroke that boasts the same or better emissions than their 4 stroke competitors.
