Fork Lowering

Hello ladys and gerbals

Need help with the following


i have a VTR thou and i want to mount drag bars to the top yoke BUT VTR's have clip ons that sit on top of the top tree making the fork tops to high to have straight bars.

I want to loose about 2 inches off my fork height as i run them an inch lower than where they sit factory.

Suggestions please that doesnt cost millions or involves hacksaws for the smart ones out there

Have considered lowering straps but that wouldnt be so smart for every day riding

So to simplyfy i want my fork tops level with the top yoke without raising my front end ride height and fucking the handling

Riding position i need wider bars as clip ons kill me

But stock the damm forks poke to far out the top yoke.

VTR forks are slightly diffrent
I can see where to make the cut but where to i move the piece too?

have you thought about higher risers

you cant mate with the clip ons off and my slightly lowered setting the tops of the forks are almost 3 inches through the yoke because the clip ons are mounted on top of the yoke not underneith like a sportsbike

thought about it but it needs to be at a fairly extreme angle. Might come to that but i need to size it up

maybe put the angle forwards instead of back i have seen them like that before on german fighters mostly

You move the piece under the damper rod like in the OSS picture.

Mount the bars off the front edge of the top triple?

Like just in front of the forks? Or is that too far forward.

same prob with mine mate, but im gonna scrape some $$$ together and get a new front end

had a similer prob wit my gsxr i went wit 3 inch risers n rental bars ,still had to lift the front a little,

Try putting the right side clip on on the left and visa versa, may sound like a lam idea but i've seen it done before and it does work and straightens out the bars.
So less reach.

Heres a hint for the handling also, ive ridden heaps of VTR's when i worked for Honda and the only way to stop them running wide/understeering mid corner when hard on them is to drop the forks through the tripples 20-25mm.
Works a treat, sharpens them right up and and fixes that mid corner understeer, meaning you can get on the gas heaps earlier.

one of the first things i did. It felt waaaay top high stock. so im about 30mm over

From memory it's welded on.

What if you got them to angle back slightly behind the fork stems like this?

where did you get those risers rod? And do they have a single threaded bolt on the bottom or 2? and ow much

I do know that rods ZX9 has a half inch rise before sweeping back so i might need to do some hunting about

I got mine from Ben at Extreme Creations, then sold them to Luke . They were single bolt at the bottom. If you get them from him there is no need for angled blocks to go underneath.

Still can't see why you can't shorten the forks like the OSS pic ???? Is the pic in the link you posted the same set-up as what you've got? If so, it's a six-pack job at best ;)
