Super nice bit of kit mate droooool.........

That Gary Larson is one funny fucker. Did you ever see the cartoon with the cave man holding a stone with twigs coming out of it, and a small pebble on the end of each twig? The caption was

“Ugg proudly displays his Swiss army rock”

Fuckin caracked me up :D

good to see you join up mate.

its getting that close now i can smell the tyre smoke.

have done a fair bit since last update. mostly to do with the fuel tank. as i am running a intank pump an filter the tank needed major surgery. just putting the final touches to that and then most of the fab work is done. also mounted my veypor cut off and rewelded the top subframe tags as they were about 5mm to high and the fuel tank was then rubbing against them. have also put the autronic sm4 ecu on order so hoping to see that this side of christmas. oil catch can is half finished.

still to go is the turbo oil drain and scavange system. once that is done i just have to put the final touches on everything, run the vac and pressure lines for wastegate, fuel reg, boost gauge and map sensor, finish the oil lines when the last of the black speedflow fittings arrive and then the huge job of wiring. there is a million other little jobs that will have to be done i no but that is the bulk of it.

and of coarse paint, powdercoat and polishing

if i say it quick it dosn't sound like alot of work.

Simms and Rohm, they built one for a british magazine that was pretty quick, and fast.

I like this as well,

They only made a few I have been told. Now they have parted but rohm is still operating and is the oilcooled guru some say. Rohm Performance Machine is his new business.

I've read your threat on oldschool debaser, I love superchargers heaps more than turbo's and i will have one the only real problem i think really needs alot of thought is the pulleys... the top pick is great but the top pulley is where my knee would be... shithouse .. And i dont see the point of putting it infront of the motor and having to change the exhaust, if you have to change it you might as well use a turbo...
I dont like the idea of suck through systems as you cant safely have a blow off valve, raw fuel and hot bit mix too well but not between my legs..

Sorry for the threat hijack dawg..

debaser what about a sc12 or sc14 supercharger from toyota , i had the sc14 on my turbo et pulsar after the turbo died, ran 13 psi all day on a 1500cc engine and the torque was unreal , there a compact positive displacement blower and the sc12 is even smaller , rebuildable units too usually priced around the $400 the clutch end is easy removed

christmas came early this year as my sm4 arrived last week. just gotta lear to talk its language.
luckily i wont be doing the wiring.

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/28777836200664.JPG

last of the speed flow fittings arrived just need one more fitting from banditrod and i have finished the oil cooler lines

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/28777836379637.JPG

the underside of the tank needed major work. running a warlbro 255lp/h intank pump. also using a ryco z200 filter.
the second hatch on the left will have a fitting poking through and that will be the outlet.

the regulator will mount infront of the larger access hatch between the ignition coils.

it is all a bloody tight fit but everything clears and the less hoses outside the tank the less chance of a kinked
hose causing the motor to run lean and fucking everything up

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/28777836240054.JPG

mounted my veypor. drilled a hole in the triple and fed through the wires

http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/upload/28777836173956.JPG

still so much to do and no time to do it. the christmas start up deadline will not happen and i am starting the think
that i may even struggle to get it to WSBK or even fools run for that matter.

heres hoping

Deano,
with the sm4 you'll need to fit a cam sensor. i had all sorts of issues trying to fit one and then to make it work. i don't know how hard it'll be on the old GSXR. i wanted to run a dowel pin in the end of one the cams but i physically had no room. i ended up running a pick-up coil(crank sensor) off a zx7 and mounted it in the rocker cover. it uses one of the cam lobes as a pick-up. let me know if you need one as i have one somewhere.

mr.zxr
24-12-2008, 03:49 PM
oh and dont forget to rubber mount the sm4. they are prone to vibration damage and that is not covered under warranty.

actually that has been one of the biggest hurdles that i have been trying to get my head arround. i gsxr cam dosn't lend itself to have a trigger adapted to it easily. i originally thourght about the cam lobe but when i email Ian from Autronic about it months ago he was of the opinion that it wouldn't be 'sharp' enough and would give a dodgy signal. if you have been able to get it to work then i guess i cant see why i cant do it. i also was going to use a reluctor pick up from a gsxr (probably much the same as the kwaka one)

did you do the config yourself on your sm4? if so i might need to have a chat to you about that.

thanks for the tip of the rubber mounting

mr.zxr
29-12-2008, 08:42 AM
EXBEN put me on to a bloke who set the SM4 up for me. i was also told the cam lobe wouldn't work but it does. it did take a few different sensor types to get it to work. i tried a gsxr1000 cam sensor and it worked but only to about 2500rpm. then the kwaka one worked a treat. i set it up so the gap between the sensor and cam lobe was about 1mm.

He didn't burn it but he did kick it off the stand & then took to it with a mash hammer, he's calmed down a bit now but is still not a happy camper & hours of merciless taunting from me hasn't helped ;)
He will still be at the Supers though & he may even bring the bike, although don't be surprised if it's an "Iceman Special" (has to be pushed everywhere coz it don't run) :D

What else did he have to do? Finish the tank, wiring and tune SM4?

TurboKat
13-02-2009, 08:33 AM
It seems the main cause of Deano's depression was caused by a simple wiring error, aparently he put 1 wire into the very expensive Autronic ECU the wrong way causing the smoke to escape from the unit - which we all know to be bad. Talking to Shano (who did 99% of the wiring) it appears that Deano only had to connect that 1 wire to positive before he fired it up & if he'd done it right we'd all be slapping Dean on the back & giving big congrats now instead of having him on suicide watch.
The ECU is in a million shattered pieces now (like Deano's sanity) & he's agreed to see a trauma councellor to help him through this emotionally distressing time, our thoughts are with him.
His sense of humour has deserted him as well, he DID NOT appreciate the male escort Gibbo sent him or the hourly pizza deliveries that Latheboy organised to cheer him up... Deano -> [V]
Meanwhile, as Latheboy has illustrated, if you're looking for some very cheap GSXR parts, now's the time to <s>kick him when he's down</s> get a bargain, you won't believe the price he sold the racebike for [:0]

If its true, then rather than go round and fleece the guy, try and talk him into waiting untill his head is straight before he makes a mistake he will regret later.

I dont have a fuckin clue what an ECU is or what it's for, but everything can be fixed, and I'm sure with a bit of help from his mates, he can turn round the problem and get back on track.

We all have our moments dont we.

What is an ECU anyway, and how much does one cost? is it really that bad?

deano, every build has a pitfall somewhere along the way, drinking yourself silly is not the answer, soilder on, look forward to the thrill of riding the bike that you built, and that the bike your building is the only one in the world.

as fellow builders, we all have our little trials and tribulations, big or small (im not playing down what has happened either) but, take a step back and detach from it all for a while, put it under a sheet, and leave it be, no point bringing your whole life down on and to a stop for a bike, or for a hobby that your meant to enjoy for that matter.

i, like many would love to see you finish the bike off, however, we would all prefer you, happy, safe and enjoying your life and bikes, if that means stopping the project, im sure everyone would back you up on the decision.
