Following a bit of an "off", and seeing my blade go along the road on its side, decided to go down the fighter route. Got a lot of inspiration from this site, particularly Darns bike. Hope you dont mind me steeling a few of your ideas?

Here are some pics of the story so far. Its slow progress, as I have zero fabrication facilities (or skill!). Let me know wot you think, or if you have any suggestions.

belly pan on, plus subframe from a 2004 cbr600 on with cable ties to see how it may look. The original arse end is far too big!

to dull gunmetal IMO, just did mine in gloss black, but even that's a bit drab - might go a metallic burnt orange, similar to the new trumpets later in the year. The way I see it, if there are a lot of curves on your bike, like the tanks tail etc, you need a color thats gonna make it stand out...my 2 cents :)

Looking good mate. I almost painted my Blade in a gun metal grey as well but changed at the last minute thankfully. As Anton said why hide it with a colour that's dull and understated after all the hard work has been done.

Thanks for the comments. Cheers Gix, Darns bike was my inspiration, really liked the 600 tail and the twin headlight. I'm in Scotland anyway, so hopefully he wont mind.

hey skins, thankfully the blade has a lot of room under the tank, so just hid all the crap under there. Its still a bit of a mess but no one is goin to see it other than me.

Hacked some more of the front fender off! Wot do you think?

Any other suggestions, loose the rear fender? Headlight tighter in to the bars?

Still don't know what colour to go.

Buy a can of matt black spray paint for three dollars and a roll of masking tape. Spray your tank, front guard and under belly, it'll tie everything in together and looks heaps tougher if it's all the same colour.

Those tail units suit the CBR tank so well. I like it a lot. As for colour, whatever you chose I'd make it dark as you have a light coloured (ali) frame to contrast. Light colours will make it look bigger and fatter, dark colours smaller.

The rear hugger really hugs the wheel well. Where did you get it? I usually hate rear huggers until I saw Torsten's and Superchargers home made ones. This looks like an off the shelf number and has the same style. Got any more photos?

Thanks Gix, good advise. The hugger was already on when I bought the bike. No branding on it, so don't know where it came from.

It was 40 quid (pounds sterling) so not cheep, but I think it will look much better when the plastic reservoir and tubing is gone.

Ayrshire in Scotland. Plenty of good roads around, just a pity it rains 90% of the time (quite envious of the Aussie weather). You?
