Never trust those stretchy fuckers.........

I had a bag strapped to the back like many times before but today was different.
Well going up Mount Ousley on my way back from a kind of relaxing weekend down the coast one of my straps decided to snap.

My bag managed to swing under the tail & between the wheel, chaos followed.
My bag was shredded, nearly everything in the bag get shredded.:(
In the mass destruction I lost my laptop power supply, a mobile phone USB cables, my favourite t-shirt & 2 pairs of jeans....

My rear guard is MIA, Fender eliminator twisted & fucked & I am missing a blinker.

To top my weekend off some fucking Arab stole the GPS off my bike.

Hope all the fuckers waving & beeping had a good fucking show.....

That happened to me about 10 years ago with a cargo net.
I had got my licence back after an enforced layoff, and was spending a week on the bike. After my first days ride, left lithgow after doing Bells Line, and headed off. About 20 k's later, I'm wondering where all the power has gone, look over my shoulder and there's smoke billowing out from behind me..
I'm thought something had blown up, but my bag had wedged between the wheel and the undertray. Since this was before MP3 players, I had my discman, it melted 3 CD's together, and trashed the clothes I was carrying.
Lucky i had a roll of gaffa tape to tape what was left back on the bike....

lossing gear I can handle but, I lost two of my bottom teeth after the hook on one of those straps hit me in the mouth when I was bending over the bike tying my load on.

I always double knot mine so the hook can't slip off and replace after 2 years

Next time you shop at Woolies or Coles, check out all the one eyed Indians pushing the trollies.

If they were all legal imigrants...Australia would be a billion or so $ poorer

I'm with Pab, also, How tight do you stretch them and how many do you use?

I have had one let go once, but the other 5 held it and my luggage safe and sound.

I only had them for 6 months.
It was a small bag so they weren't stretched ultra tight.
I have done it many times before but this time I was just unlucky.
At the end of the day I am happy I managed to stay upright, could've really been alot worse.
Also glad I changed my mind & had my laptop in my backpack.

But still shitty about some fucker stealing my GPS............

Might have to look at those Seat 2 Straps.

You are a lucky bugger mate! A friend of mine had a strap snap on the rear of his bike, lap top bag swung round and jammed in the rear wheel, locked the rear wheel up completely! While he was, um, "up it" on the Snowy Mts Hwy... 100+ km/h onto the ground then into a rock wall. Lucky he was wearing all the right gear and walked away (well, limped away...)
