Heads up on an eBay scam

Just a heads up to all on a piece of scum who ran a scam classified ad on ebay.

The seller was a bloke named Peter Mashall and the eBay seller name used was bond.peter007 and the ad was for a near new Chinese supplied 20ft shipping container at the Brisbane Port Authority with a price of $1550 and a quoted price for delivery to northside of Bribane of $100.

I "bought" one and was supposed to have it delivered the Monday before Easter and still no show. Couldn't get hold of him on his mobile on the Monday and when I called his head office, they gave me the story that they couldn't get him as his voice mailbox was full.

Couldn't get either him or the office on the Tuesday and then on the Wednesday, no luck either and the office number was disconnected.

I checked with Telstra on the number and they couldn't give me any details or status on it. Go figure.

I have since found out that he burnt another 3 people at least with this same classified ad.

Currently putting in a report on it to the NSW cops fruad unit and getting my bank to follow the money trail.

That's about it.

Hopefully, this will help anyone else avoid the same scam and maybe if anyone runs across this arsehole, they would be kind enough to let me know so I can point the appropriate people in the right direction.

If anyone does pass along info that leads to this scum being picked up, I will post a reward 10% of what I lost.

At least threaten them that you'll go to consumer affairs or ASIC or whatever and file complaints against them and maybe they'll put more effort into sorting it out?

Yep boss got done by the same prick... classified ad for a 10ft container, 800 plus 300 del to melb.
spole to him over the phone when he bought it and he said "yeah we'll fill it up before we send it down, then drop the freight off and drop it off to you"
after the 10days passed, nothing, had rung him before and after 10 days and nothing.
He bought it just before easter too.

he noticed afterwards that the abn on invoice and abn on website or something else didnt match up, and also noticed on invoice it said "TES Trasnport"
check yours and see if its the same thing?

Much as I'd like someone to have a chat with them and use a 4x2 to get the point across repeatedly, preferrably around their ears, might not be the best way forward from a legal point of view. It would be good though if you could swing by there and suss out if they are still operating out of that address.

Just ask them what they can move to where as you are thinking of moving a car to Darwin.
Say that a mate of a mate at work suggested you check with them as Peter gave him a good price on moving a car.
If they ask Peter who, play dumb and say not sure, Martin, Marks... something like that... can't really remember.
Hopefully they will fill in the blanks and might even give over a business card.

All you can do is try and see what happens... worst case, they clam up and just say you must have your wires crossed...

Ok, I stopped by 65 hume st and had a bit of a snoop. I could only find one door and no T.E.S transport. I couldn't see a suite 17 either. The units on the intercom seemed to be numbered like 10x for first floor units, 20x for 2nd floor units, etc. etc.

I asked a woman walking into the building whether she knew either where T.E.S was located or if she knew of a Peter working in the building, she said no to both unfortunately.

I'll try giving them a call on Monday and getting directions as i didn't have a lot of time and may have messed up but I don't think so. Sorry I don't have better news mate.

First hurdle was to establish what is at that address and you have done that. Main thing is to get the lay of the land and see what you can figure out. maybe Suite 17 is totally bogus and if you find that out now, save a lot of time later.

Just spoke to my mate who reported his scammer to the police. The person he reported to can be contacted on:

He gave me the impression that she is part of a dedicated fraud squad on this particular issue, so if you think it might do some good get in contact with her.

The key here is this` - On the tax invoice it states TES traSNport not TES traNSport.

It's decidedly dodgy. No doubt some scammer using an interstate transport co's details and no doubt a prepaid mobile phone registered in a dodgy name.

If you are emailing it, can you please cc the email to our stand alone email (onlineauctionfraud@bigpond.com) as well as sometimes our QPS firewall blocks the email.

Once I have received your documentation and have drafted your statement, I will be in touch to arrange to finalise it and get it signed.

For the purpose of the statement, could you please also email me your date of birth, home address, any other contact numbers that you have (ie. Home or work) and your occupation.

He reckons he's seen classifieds claiming to be from Royal Wolf (who actually make shipping containers), selling off big crates for waaay too cheap. Woulda thought Royal Wolf was too big of a company to impersonate, but you never know..... beware!

I drove down Crockford St the other day on route to loading at Golden Circle.

The cnr of Bellare Ave is a round about with residential houses there. Definitely no container park. There is one back up off Nudgee Road on the gateway side but it isn't Royal Wolf from memory, and I haven't been there in years so it could have moved.

Still no container park = something to be worried about. especially when the address is so generic. There are four corners on each sideof that roundabout. Which one is the right one?

has anyone spoken to royal wolf about there name being used for scams?
because as i understand it the website shows they have 4 locations in QLD and according to ebay auction theres 5 locations now which there 5th location dont show up on google map..
and the other thing ive noticed is, the ebay auction is using pictures from royal wolfs web site, but why not use pictures from there own location? is it because its just a empty block of land?

ABN didn't make sense in one and the others fell into the "too good to be true" catagory.
