IM gettin in early but i suggested elsewhere,
How About a STATE OF ORIGIN drag race weekend.
somewhere like Heathcote.
that way its sort of central for the west and queenslanders
and everybody in between..
plenty of fast bikes beer piss pulling etc.
.let someone else do the timing dial your own index ,
so that anyone has a fair chance....morry

Rock, I had that very plan for this year, but owners in middle of divorce.
And health issues.
Couldn't get it to come together.
Ideal place, but.
Heathcote Park up for sale at present.
Will see how it pans out and follow it up for next year.

+ 1 on the ideal place, and not just because its close to me but its out of town , has covered areas in the pits, can put the stunts/burnouts in pregrid area and bring the drags in from a side gate , large paddock for camping .
Can either hire it or if a lower cost structure is needed fit in with existing test and tunes
Food and grog are available on site , current owner is bike friendly but has no patients for idiots, a great guy and i hope the same can be said if it changes hands .

Hey Morry.
Nah, I/we miss next 2 meets. Norty MadKow broke crank, gets ugly after that.
Fucken thing committed suicide rather than have me ride it, haha.
Thats racing, but. Happens when ya pull the string tight, sometimes it breaks. Winters next.
As you n Booster said, Heathcote perfect spot.
Camping licence, alcohol licence, shedding, kitchen/catered, dragstrip.
All ya need is ya bike, a spare pair of jocks (if so inclined), a tent (though there is sheds) and ya wallet. Biker heaven.

It's looking like the end of this year will be another relocation for myself and the family. If so... QLDers and NSW if they are going through Wagga Wagga, I will make room for them to stay on their way through.

Depending on work, I will be there either with a bike or without...

The one thing I love about the idea most is this:

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1271424458.jpg

Heathcote is above Melbourne and to the left a bit, compare the rainfall fro April there to the rainfall for April in Casino (south of Brisbane)

I don't know about other Queenslander's, but i'm 3hours north of Brisbane, and a 1796km ride for me would be too far for a weekend. I went to both Casino runs in 08 and 09, and it was purely awesome, even with a bit of rain last year. Maybe if we did Casino at a different time of year when the weather is more predictable (it's highly likely to rain there between Christmas and May), then change the name to just Fools Run.

That's just my $2 worth, but i'm only 1 member who brings a couple of mates, and i know majority of members are in NSW and VIC.

cheers
Andrew

Casino for a Melbourne resident is 1600Kms. Seems like a distinctions without a difference.

rock hard
19-04-2010, 07:23 PM
Just to put it into perspective perth--melb aprox 4000 kms
perth --casino aprox 4800kms we dont care about getting there
because when members of the ASF get together we ALWAYS have a ball dont we..the reason i suggested heathcote was that Livewire already raised the idea before and as i recall the timing system at afr08 didnt work and for 2 days we all tried in vein to get it up and running i would love to have seen the times those turbo busa's were running but it wasnt so.pity . heathcotes works fine we havnt got to work our arses off to set up just go and race drink piss fall down..and heathcote has all the facilities already to go, so realy travel wise it will be easy for some and a bigger commitment for others.the thing for the queenslanders is they will be grinning for longer onthe way home than the mexicans...heathcote wont have any noise problems no greedy councils or cry baby neibours...its all good ...see ya there

I can see the point you're making, like i said it's only my opinion that it's too far for me to go. There's obviously more members down your way, so it makes sense to hold the AFR where the majority of the members are. I was suprised when Casino was announced for the 08 AFR because of how far north Casino is.

cheers

some smart bastard has copied afr's idea and has started drags on the casino airstrip, the first weekend they expected 80 entrants and got ten times that, the drags are going to be once a month from now on and i hear are booked out 6 months in advance, could be a plan to work in with those fellers

I was talking to a guy who went to the Casino 1/8th mile and he said it was a blast, even had a hand full of bikes there. They sounded well organised and made sure everyone had a good time. I think he said he averaged 7 runs a day.

Booster

I was there, i think the enthusiasm will wearoff a little now some of the big hp vehicles have a taste of the traction conditions , be a good streetcar meet but a wild ride in a full on drag car,
what made it for them was good weather , fair bit of Tv and newspaper advertising ,and a lot of community support

StuNVA
04-05-2010, 08:11 PM
Yeah at Gunnedah the big cars are down around 1sec on the 1/8th compared to WSID or the like, or so they tell me, but there is always a few there.
