Is there any difference between the vfr750 single sided swing arm and the vfr800 and should it fit fairly easily on 94 cbr900?
The 750 arm is narrower, but the 800 arm is better looking in my opinion & isn't a difficult fit into the blade.
The 800 swingarm also has the axle sitting in the lower half of the eccentric, i.e. at 6 o'clock - on the 750 it sits in the upper half, at 12 o'clock - so in theory you will get a higher tail with the 800 arm. That's assuming the same shock and linkage lengths at the frame end of the swingarm.
You can flip the 750 eccentric to raise the swingarm in relation to the ground (and get the same geometry as the 800 swingarm), but to do so you have to disassemble the hub, countersink the holes in the caliper bracket, and replace the two hex bolts with countersunk screws. Once you've done this you get a full 360 degrees of rotation in the eccentric... those two caliper bolts prevent this normally, because they hit the swingarm.
I will have to do a photo write-up on how to do this sometime... it's a great mod for 750 swingarms.

my 2 cents worth cos I'm fitting an 800 arm in a blade at the moment.
750 arm will fit straight in with just a spacer on the right side. 25mmx25mm
and 20mm bore/hole..arm you need is 1994 to 1997
800 arm is another kettle of fish.arm needs milling down and so does the frame
and the arm to use is 1998 to 2001...new one won't fit.
while we are on the subject ,any body got any idea on which fits a 2000 model best I also have been told it comes down to the shock linkage ?
2000 model what? The 90-93 (aka 3rd Gen) VFR750 linkage is different to the 94-97 model (aka 4th Gen). FIGHTERMC's comments above suggest that the 1998-2001 (aka 5th Gen) swingarm is also a goer, albeit with a bit of work, and the 2002-current (aka 6th Gen) seems to be out - although, never say never
My experience is mostly 4th Gen, but I'm pretty heavily involved in the VFR community so can certainly find out anything you need to know.

Pretty sure you can use either the 4th Gen (94-97) or 5th Gen (98-01) swingarms on the 929.

There was a full build thread on how to put a vfr800 arm in a 94 blade.
Remember my flamebike fireblade.
When Exben did my conversion it was full documented and heaps of images of the job were loaded as well.
unfortunately the build thread was on the old site , it would have been helpful for this new builder.

theres a handier way of fitting the arm.
you need to take the arm down to 260mm
taking the meat off of the right side of the arm and
taking a few mm off of the right side of the frame
where the screw in spacer going in to the frame.
front sprocket will line up perfectly.
save spacing out the sprocket and milling down the hub.
