    "I Can't Believe I Bought It" Bikes

What have you owned that upon reflection, you have thought, "What a stupid prick am I for that misguided purchase".

For me it was my RG250.

When i bought it the last owner told me it was "done up" a bit but when it made its first trip to the shop the full extent of the dramas began. It had been bored to within an inch of its life, ports you could walk through and jets in the carb that would rival irrigation fittings for flow rate.

This was my first road bike and it was just a little tempremental. Heaps of fun when on the pipe but a bitch in traffic and almost impossible to pass the learners shit that NSW imposed 1 week before my P's test.

mine was a gsx250 pile of crap first a section of one of the exhaust valves broke off and disapeared out the exhaust fixed that then it decided to brake a rocker arm so i fixed that then one day the front suspension collapsed when the springs decided they liked to stay in the compressed state which was nice so I fixed that, all was well for a few weeks then it started to leak petrol out of the carbs so off came the carbs cleaned and put back on started up no leaks, then a puff of blue smoke came up from under the tank and it cut out and would not re start upon inspection the main loom had melted under the tank so by now ever so slightly pissed off after six months of hell i cut my loses

and burn't the fucker and it felt good I won

GPZ500. Just because it was shit. Maybe replace shit with boring as fuck. Got talked into it by a dealer when I was a novice. I had it for one week. Best part is, when I just did a search for a photo of the bike in question I found this which really sums the bike up:

    2005 Honda Hornet 900.

Bought it brand new at a heavily discounted price to be a sensible, practical, economical bike. No mechanical issues and it did everything Honda claimed it would do and it did them very well, but it was just so bland, so Honda!!

On the upside, it did provide a very useful trade-in on my 955 Daytona 12 months later.

Hmmm....first bike for me was KR250 that was in bits....never did get it going...but I ended up selling it 6 months later for more than I paid for it, so I wasn't too scarred.

Ended up riding one some years later only to discover they were utter crap...kinda glad I never got mine running.

almost forgot my ZZR1200, heavier than a tank and the front end pushed like a wallabies scrum through the twisties. Had it for 14 weeks and pissed it off in favour of my GSXR1000k2 which we coaxed 159rwhp out of it

I sold my TZR250 i had on my L and P plates, to buy a CR250. I should have realised 6'3 115kg front rowers dont make the best motocross riders. I finally got the balls up to do a big table top, stacked, broke my foot, sold the fucker for $200 less than i bought it for and bought another road bike..............Been happy ever since.

I heard of a cheapo Norton Twin and bought it sight unseen from Union Jack in Melbourne. When the carrier unloaded it I found it was an Navigtor 250 & my mates were there to see my Cheapo Norton. It took 3 years for the wise crackers to stop. The Navigator is one of the one of the dirtiest dogs Norton even produced. Oddly, I found a bloke that collected them about 6 months later and sold it for what it owed me(moneywise). I reckon I would have copped less flak if I dressed up in a TooTuu and dated Ozkat.......
