Hey Dave, Ive got a mate back in Tassie who built a 3 engined CR 480 dragbike back in the mid 80s. He built it, i was to ride it. Fisrt attempt was machining off the gearboxes on the front 2 motors, joining the motors by drive chains and use the standard 3rd gearbox, knowing that it would proberly shit its self. Which it did in the driveway at about 1/4 throttle. He thought that the direct drive shock from the chain drives may have caused it as well as trying to use a stock gearbox, so he used glimer style drive belts and a beefed up 3 speed gearbox made from a triumph box. Tried another test run in the street after passing the driveway test, blew the box again. Next attempt was to use a GSX1100 box but he had a few heart problems so the bike was put in the back of the shed, its still there. This thing was 1440cc of pure evil, hand made expansion chambers, about 2 meters long and a turning circle of a Bdouble. The sound it made is nothing like ive ever heard before or since. Tony reckons it sounded like the devil getting a powersaw shoved up his arse. Ill try and get some pics.

My dad bought a mach 4 new in 1972, the good one with CDI and better port timing. The later ones were shit in comparison, detuned, points ect. He kept it 30 years and sold it to buy a 1200 bandit.

Nothing sounds like a mach 4.

That would be something worth tracking down. I love the 70's idea of whacking the biggest nastiest motor into the most flexible under-braked chasis you could find and then just holding on for dear life. I wish I was around back then to experience it. Sounds like my kinda fun!

KR1 or KR1s? the 1s used to last twice as long as the KR1 (about 300 miles in total, if memory serves me right)[]

Here's my second RD350 [1977] Bullshit bikini fairing, expansion chambers, Koni rear shocks, and big dent in the tank, from where it spat me off after owning it for about five minutes!! Went like crazy to about $1.40, then boredom set in
    Just behind it,my house
