NSW 6th Annual Ride for Mental Illness Awareness 11th August 2013

Around 2,000 Australians die from suicide each year and for every person who dies from suicide, it is estimated that at least another 30 people attempt suicide.
Many of those who have attempted suicide, or who have seriously thought about killing themselves, will - with medical intervention, counselling, social support and time - go on to live full, productive lives.
Suicide prevention is a community issue with awareness support and education the number of suicides can be reduced.
Men are over represented in the statistics…. Local bike rider Don Dummett knows only too well the personal impact that mental illness and suicide can have on a family. He along with the help and support of his family and friends have held this ride for the last five years in memory of his father.
The ride takes in some of the most beautiful scenery in the Illawarra and gives men the opportunity to ride, yarn and enjoy mateship. Winding down the Highway from Albion Park towards Bomaderry, going through picturesque Cambewarra and riding through country roads to North Nowra tavern for lunch and some entertainment before heading through some more lovely country side to Jamberoo to enjoy family activities and a huge Auction at Kevin Walsh Oval.
The cost for the ride is only $20 per bike registration can be taken on the day which starts at 8am at McDonalds Albion Park. Or you can register at North Nowra Tavern.
All proceeds will go to Suicide Preventions Strategies for more information on the ride please contact Donny Dummett on 0402766916 or go to suicide Prevention Website
