Wink My New toy! Not a bike.

    Just picked this up,

Been wanting one for ages (15 odd years)!

77 HX statesman, 308 V8 with a TH400. Lots of work to do but Yee Haa!
Had been sitting for a few years. stuck a new battery in and she goes. Paint is a bit funny though. Was repainted in the 90s sometime and it has now done this:

Weird thing is that it's all under the clear coat. to run your hand over it it's smooth as a babies.

    Off to the shed!

good score ,oh the RH headlight surround is around the wrong way ,the left one is correct, the reason the paint looks and feels this way is ,bc the genious that painted it thought he,d mix alittle colour in with the clear ,it cracks up everytime, but feels smooth, air cleaner also facing the wrong side of the engina bay as well ,good base for a cruiser or street bruiser, excellent stuff

Thanks Rod, 308 rem 700 is on my shopping list. Mwahahaha. Hey ALBI thanks for the offer mate but I would hate to give another member my problems. Pete, the light surround is all cool, it's just the shit phone pics makes it look unco. I know the paint is fucked but I lind of like the effect.

Thats an awsome statesman, my first 3 cars were 202 HZ,HX & a 308 HX prem. Dam I miss those cars, they just dont make em like that any more. Slap some fresh pain on & it'll be gold.

Hey 80's Freak that HZ looks tidy as. I've never really liked the WB series. It's a little bland to me. I think Statos need more love in general though. Hey Si, yeah the paint is really odd. I'm almost thinking of trying to recreate it a little more consistantly.

I have no idea WHAt the car is,
but it looks like it could be interesting.

    Paint wouldnt bother me,
Leave the looks, and build a monster underneath.

Not sure how, but I know it can be done.
Carl from West Coast Imports in the UK did it on a black / orange XJR,
came out like crazy paving, had a sort of Volcaneo lava look to it.
