    Little gixer question...

Righto lads I need to know if an '85 gixer 400 engine would bolt into an '89 gixer 250 frame...

I assume they would have changed slightly to suit the frames etc over the years..

    Any ideas ?

    Cheers,

    Dan.

Thanks Pete, but I have a grey import gixer 250 that needs shift forks and a clutch, but I have recently found an '85 gixer 400 which if I'm not mistaken would be a grey import too..... I'm trying to get a look at the 400 with a tape in my hand to measure everything but I thought I'd ask here.

My main concern is the '85 was a slabby style frame whereas the '89 is a twin spar style....

What measurements on the GSXR400 do you want bloke ? I have a frame with a RF600 motor sitting in it atm (RF600 bottom end is just a oil cooled gsx1100 motor cases modded) and slightly larger than the gsxr400 motor but not by alot as far as the cases are concerned.

I don't have the motor anymore (but can take measurments off the frame for you) , It went to yoda but I belive he sold it on to someone else.

Pretty much the usual stuff mate ie width of rear mounts distance from rear to front mounts, height of upper monuts in relation to lower mounts etc etc.

I know brother I was hoping to be lucky enough to get a simple bolt in type swap... Probably wishful thinking on my part though.
The 250 will be sold as soon as it's a runner and I can get the running 400 for a little more than the parts to fix the 250 will cost and I already have someone interested in the 400 as a roller, so I figured it was a win win type of thing if I can get it sorted.

I have slotted a 1000cc bigbored 750 Slabby motor into the 400 Katana frame with no real dramas, it is currently my back burner project which will see some attention when my Kwak is finished shortly.
