    Kawasaki question, what's it worth?

Now, without the usual "tell him I'll buy it for a dollar" answers, does anyone know what a Z1000 J is worth? One of the guys from my work has one he wants to get rid of. It needs to be reassembled, but I'm told it's only a day's work to put it back together. We are unsure of the value of it, can anyone suggest a ballpark price range?

Being a bitsa and without seeing it, it hard to guess.

If I knew the bike/owner/history/story and it all looks good
i'd guess at $2000 upwards ? From a stranger, probably less,
    (But thats just me)

They rarely seem to go back together without
hurting the wallet, but building a Lawson Rep
    would be no bad thing.

Its a "non-Suzuki" i'd be happy to own.

hard to say without more info, restored/original/repaired condition?

the 1000j isn't a very desirable model for "restoration" but the motor would pull 1-1500K at a wreckers depending on condition, a good frame $150, tank/plastics maybe $250, seat $100, dash $100, loom $80 the rest would be probably get dumped.

I'd start at $1K unseen and go from there, you get them on Gumtree in running/project condition now and again in the 1K-2.5K range.

also ask yourself this, if it's only a days work to get it back together running/riding then why doesn't the owner fix it to max his selling price?

Get him to give you a ballpark price & when he does, make sure you look like he's just told you he's rooting your Mum, that'll put doubt in his mind & soften him up for when you offer him half of what he's asking.
Remember, "If you get it for half price, it's a bargain"
Also, find out if his Missus wants him to get rid of it then do the haggling at his place while she's there, don't forget to suck lots of air through your teeth & act all disappointed when you're looking at the bike.
I just bought a 99 model ZX9 for $200 using the above techniques.

The lovely Amanda (& Women in general) will be finding you a lot more sexually attractive now Ice but she won't quite know why.
