    mass times velocity = inertia

    inertia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inertia ) is one heavy harley travelling at speed in an attempt to jump 200 feet (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=1019136 ), and that is as far as my physics go but I really like the suspension. I would like to see the film clip of this jump. Anyone know of a source?

    I think mass x velocity is momentum. Isn't it?
    And inertia is a resistance to acceleration.

    Inertia is the tendency of an object to remain at a constant speed (including zero) until acted upon by an external force.

    Momentum is a synonym of inertia.

    Any jump is cool, but getting a barge airborne is worthy of respect!

    yep inertia is mass times velocity( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inertia ). Mass as in weight ie a boat anchor or harley times, velocity. Velocity is speed, goin fast, f**kin hummin which is momentum ie travelling 160 klms is an objects momentum. Now if you have a harley travelling at 160klm and a dirt bike travelling at 160 klms and they both hit the same wall at the same time then it weould be expected that the dint made by the dirt bike would be much smaller then the one made by the harley. These dints were the product of a force that can be described in therm of inertia. Inertia is simply a mesurement of how much force an object has determined by how fast a peice of crap can fly, more over the bigger the crap the further and harder the hit.

    Physics and mathematics appear to be less inclined to use the original concept of inertia as "a tendency to maintain momentum" and instead favor the mathematically useful definition of inertia as the measure of a body's resistance to changes in momentum or simply a body's inertial mass.

    The mass of a body determines the momentum P of the body at given velocity v; it is a proportionality factor in the formula:

    P = mv
    The factor m is referred to as inertial mass.

    But mass as related to 'inertia' of a body can be defined also by the formula:

    F = ma
    Here, F is force, m is mass, and a is acceleration.
