Why is USA delivery so expensive?

Im after a set of camo pants, price $75 US, Delivery $78 US. [V]

It works out to be around the same price as Draggin Jeans $200 AUS, but delivery is dearer than the item.

Its not expensive. You just have to know where to shop. Try www.bikebandit.com i have no idea if they even sell that stuff but its worth a try. Or ask one of our USA members if they could forward it on to you.

Shouldn't have to pay any tax if they're exporting them

Hey Suxukifreak. Ive brought plenty from the states and yes it's getting dearer. Not that expensive though. Most U.S. companies use UPS to freight to Aussie but it's way dearer and because it's a courier service every item goes through customs Australia! So import duties etc. I was told by Australian customs that if USPS ( AustPost for the U.S. ) is used, only items listed over $1000-00 will be searched by customs.

They will do spot checks on all values and you may have to pay import duties.

Always get the seller to write "Gift" or "second hand" on the custom form and it shouldn't get duties on it. USPS Economy Air is the best Value and 10days max to get here.

    I hope this helps.

That's what I was going to say as well. Done a few overseas ship outs myself and if it's marked "gift" and at a lower value (ie. second hand jeans worth $20) there will be no duty. Hence, the winning answer would be if someone like Dan in the states could get it and ship it personally as a gift. Sorry to suggest you Dan but you're the first person I thought of in the states as I shipped stuff out to you this week.

Customs duty in Aus now only applies to items worth over $1000. In the past I think it was $400 so it was easier for them to "round up".

You won't have to pay on the Aussie end for a pair of riding pants

    Thanks Paulie and welcome.

Come to think of it, when i ordered the above, there was a option of "gift" in the check out area.

Live and learn or crash and burn. [V]
