headlight fairing has now been fitted and brackets made then taken off to get painted, this is what it looks like on the bike in the position it will be in.
Held on with a bungee strap while I was measuring up for the brackets.
The top view is of the clock mount plate which is going to be used as a template for one I am making from ally, which will have a single acewell pod speedo in it
Think I might be changing them risers too as they look a bit harley tartish to me for something a bit more square and suited to the bike
The next pic shows how it will look with the viper oval stubby in position, got some polishing to do to that fucker it was used on a pit bike before and abused, was going to have it under the engine but it didnt look right.
Forgot to mention that the current link pipe will be wasted at the silencer end to fit the viper can. So it blends in nicely and not a sudden change from big fat pipe to not so big fat pipe, should help with the required amount of back pressure required as well.
Hey Stu. What you doing with tho old headlight brackets?
They have been sold off already mate.quote:Originally posted by kevkatana

nice,,, looks like some one spent the cash on her awhile ago ,,cheers
Well its been a while since I did anything to the bike due to lack of cash and life stuff but things are on the up now. Got a well piad job and so the bike work resumes.
In the processe of making my own wiring loom it is goint to be in three parts lighting, charging and ignition and very minimal to the point of the wiring should be all but invisible.
Anyhow a few pics of what has been going on.
Instead of going for the mirror polished stainless look for the dash I decided to brush it first then polish it, turned out very good I rekon
Headlight fairing ready for flatting before clearcoat
Finished item after 5 coats of clear and flatted between coats
The brackets I made up for the headlight fairing originally looked all maccano like so I binned them and adjusted and used the ccm brackets for the headlight fairing , end result was no visible brackets
Nice one Stu. Keep it coming mate.
Lovin this! Nice one mate!
looks sweet stu keep the work and pics cumin
I finished the fairing off and here it is polished and ready to have the headlight fitted and put on the bike at the weekend.
Not bad for a rattle can job although I would liked to have got the silver stripes nice and sharp, oh well next time i'll use pin stripe tape produces a nice sharp line, loads better than masking tape
If anyone is wondering, that's a Cagiva Mito side stand.
Fuck I wish there were bargin EFEs like that kicking around oz.
Got the fairing fitted today. heres a couple of pics of how it looks and one with its slightly more modern brother
All thats left to do is make the 3 piece wiring harness and shed loads of repolishing. Get a stainless replica harris works exhaust and replace some bolts with none rusty stainless ones oh and fit a stage 3 dyno jet kit and immobiliser/alarm
lov it Stu...old suzies just get better with age
A bit more of an update chaps, shit camera phone by the way
I changed my mind on getting a harris works collection zorst and have decided to make up a twin pipe setup using mainly gsxr slingshot 1100 parts.
So here we have the slingshot 1100 headers or down pipes test fitted to see what needs work. As you can see I just need to have some stainless welded on to the shoulder so the clamps will hold the headers in place and slot the clamps as well.
And a bit of luck here the outlets have ended up in the right place
Back indicators fitted and the reg plate is going to be trimmed down
And one with the clocks fitted and new risers which look a bit out of line due to new spacers need to be made up for the bolts as the original riser bolts were fatter
Looking good Alfie and the headlight looks a nice bit of kit. Considering there were a shitload of these bikes sold where the fuck are they now.
People tend to keep hold of them and rarely sell e'm unless needs must, thats how I got this one the guy needed to sell to raise cash.quote:Originally posted by Jinx

Done some more to it.
The chain guards turn for a bit of a refresh and polish up
Got to get all the oily crap off before stripping and polishing
Clean and ready
And finally rubbed down with verying grades of emery paper ready for the polishing mops
I got a free carbon front muddy when I bought a steering damper. Just need to rub it down as the clear coat was a bit scratched and re coat it
Heres an update, been busy polishing parts and painting the engine.
First up the polishing.
