Header paint. Rattle can or HPC?

    Hey guys,
Was thinking about doing the headers on the TRX black. Could use the header/exhaust specific high temp rattle can, or could spend bucks on a high performance coating. Would rather save some bucks and go the rattle can option but I am suspect of the durability. Has anyone used it and does the stuff stay on? Any feedback on HPC's. Any info much appeciated.
    Stu.

Hey Stu, I used a rattle can ceramic coating called "VHT flameproof" on my dragbike headers started with an alloy color then put a clear over that after curing the base color, it has held up really well under extreme conditions, just prep them right and it should be right.
    cheers GK.

Just got mine done in polished silver at competition coatings in Sydney. $180 for my gixxer 4 into 1's. Very happy.

Big difference in pricing, if you can afford HPC then go with it, it's the most durable coating available, if price is a factor, go with VHT but sandblast the headers first for the best possible etch & make sure you cure the paint as close to the instructions as possible (can be done while on the bike if you're careful).
Note; No matter how good a job you do with VHT (blasting, curing, etc.) it will not stand up to burnouts, as soon as your headers start glowing red, the paint is gone & they will start to rust.

Thanks for your input guys. I spoke to HPC down at Leongatha today and they gave me an approx price of $132 as it's headers only(the rest of the pipes will get chopped soon). SO HPC IT IS. Thanks All.
