I'm still trying to work out how to go with the kart, but it was pointed out to me that a big smokey singleor v4 wouldn't take up tooo much room upsides my seating.
Anyone got one?
Anyone care to offer an opinion as to their value? (pms are ok)

An RG or RZ 500 moteur will cost you all the money in the whole world but would be the ultimate option, a KX, CR, WR, Husky, etc, 500 is a top idea for a Kart but they're a bit hard to find & they're kickstart which is a pain in a Kart. I'd be looking for a mid 80s onwards, cheap midsize electric start donk that nobody wants, ie; GSXR 400, GPz 550, XS 400, any 400 - 500cc parallel twin, etc. You want your plant to be as light as possible but have 50ish HP for a speedy but not insane Go Kart I reckon.
RZ500's are kickstart too, plus they are a temperamental pain in the arse. Unless you were going to race the thing they just aren't worth the trouble.
why am i not surprissed at that booster
Here you go Richie, I knew I'd seen a Gixer 400 moteur for sale somewhere.

....but you'd need a pit bike too............
I've always wanted to build a bike or kart around one of these engines [] it's a late 80s/early 90s Johnson GT300 outboard, 245 ci (4 litre) V8, 2 stroke, 300HP. Can you imagine what it'd sound like with 8 expansion chambers hanging off it ?
One day...
Dunno how to embiggen the pics. [V]
I know where there is a engine from one of these sitting around doing fuck all... You'll just have to get it from Everst base camp
Thanks Darren. I'll keep it in mind, but I'm thinking if I've got to chop the frame up, I may as well do it properly and put a screamer in it.quote:Originally posted by TurboKat

I've been quoted $2000+ for a new system[:0]
They'll just slow you down
That's the fucken idea. Late braking panic stops with the cops trying to keep up around Brookvale.[8D]quote:Originally posted by TurboKat

I wonder if a couple of Rear brake calipers from a zx10 or similar could be adapted to fit.....
I need to find someone with a CNC mill to turn up some billet spindles.
I can donate a set of 2 pot calipers from my SRX6 if it's any use to you, they're the standard Yamaha ones from the 80s and pretty similar to the cart ones

To answer your other question about the value of engines; a V4 400 will be no good to you are we keep blowing them up in 400 racing which drives their cost up, you can't get one for less than $1,200.quote:Originally posted by Large

Oh yeah, that's what it should be. Big torque (for a stroker) and no weightquote:Originally posted by Snaffler
