    A 'tard.......sort of

Well I finally got the wheels I ordered in June.

    Beautiful, yes ?
Black Excel rims and CNC hubs with cush drive for the DR
Also is a EBC rear disc and a 320mm EBC disc and relocation bracket.Fucking fines & bills have eaten all my tyre money.

And if I'm lucky I may even get time to ride

About $1280 including postage plus $186 customs fees, cos of the delay I got tubes for nix. Both discs and aset of pads cost $720 so just a tad over $2200. Aussie dollars was about 94 - 96 us cents at the time

Sorry 'bout the piccy was dark, wet and taken on my phone.

Damn relocation bracket from EBC didn't quite fit so 320mm disc isn't on yet. Bike shop isn't getting that sorted.

Nice mate - 650 right? Whats the gear box like in them. I've wanted to work and motard my drz400 but I keep getting slapped and told no by my motard mates cause its a bad idea. Apparently the 400 boxes are made out of cheese.

    Thanx mate
Only put 700km on it, been working that much and having my son every second weekend so scant time for riding. There's about 1200 or so pages on adv rider dedicated to the DR-650 and I can't remember seeing anyone complain about the gearbox.
Shitload of parts available flatslide carbs, bigbore kits cams and the rest. Heaps of info available too and "The Word On The Street" is that they are pretty well bullet proof.Plenty of guys on small budgets taking them where the big KTM's & BMW's go.

Never heard of any probs with the 400 boxes or any of the others over here in the uk. A couple of my mates have got the 400's tarded and used as work hacks no probs, the 400 has been a popular one for tarding along with it's larger brothers.

mate of mine did about 10,000km's on the tar on a DRZ400 enduro that he put motard wheels on. No Cush drive or anything!
The DRZ400's are bullet proof, as are the 650's like bladehunters's

looking good mate, will be a lot more fun now.
nothing wrong with 400 boxes. my 440 stroker has 8800km on it and no trouble at all, jsut had valve clearances done and mechanic said the bike is still tight as even though she sits on 6000rpm on the highway lol

Mate ya gunna have a ball just keep the front end down when leaving lights hahaha. I had a wr450 motarded which i miss. The only time when you are gunna fuck your gearbox is when you dont have a cush drive and when you compression lock up to back it into corners thats where the racers have shitloads of problems because there so hard on there machines. Just my 2 cents.

Had a 'tarded TTR-250 as a commuter and had a fucken' ball on that.Cush drive is std so don't have probs there...as for compression lock up....hmmmm

First shakedown run today, bloody thing handles like it's on rails much to the surprise of me & a mate.
    Grin factor is at 11
Funny thing is the frontend feels somewhat stiffer than with the std front wheel [?]
Still waiting on word about the caliper bracket so I can use the 320mm disc.Hopefully next month a full Staintune system.
Still to go on is a Vapour speedo\dash and a WRF copy headlight. Then the usual brake line upgarde, fat bars, upgraded carb....ok that's next year's income spent

good to hear mate, make sure you dump the stock front fender for a smaller 'supermoto' one so the front end doesnt get flightly on the highway

fun fun - just watch out for your license now
pesh 400 aren't too bad - the weight isn't a problem unless you are trying to pick the bike up pointed the wrong way down a hill, tho being 6'3" helps.
thanks for the feed back on the boxes guys.

I'm with Slain. Dremel the friggen guard ASAP! Apart from that looks awesome. Sounds like, despite the wait, you got a pretty good deal on the conversion. Theres one on the bay at the mo for 1500 no bids. ends soon though.

Seriously considering a dr as my next bike, everyone i have heard says they are well and truly bulletproof
