Correct me if i am wrong, which i usually am,but how can you buy a 12000 dollar bike and chop the shit out of it to make a fighter ?. What ya gunna improve ?
To me fightering is taking something that can be improved on and doing just that, improving it. Everything you touch on that will be at best a sidestep on original and at worst a backwards step. Not haggling ,,,,,,,,,, just asking ?.
If ya want something good you gotta start with something good!

    Yeah i agree
taking a $5k bike and modding the crap out of it is fun
Seems like a waste of about 7k since u coulda got the same bike as a write of for half the price.
butchering an almost new perfect bike wtf.

Balakov : If ya want something good you gotta start with something good!
Spoken in true street fighter form...... NOT!

2ndclass : You sure you got the right forum ?.

    Hell yeah. .

You should be at the " i just bought a 12K bike, watch me chop it up to be cool." forum.

Thats a fuckin outright waste of motorcycle. Go buy a crashed K5 that needs some good street fightering loving.

5K of crash plus 7K of fightering = just plain wicked
12K of mint gsxr plus 7K of fightering = just plain wanking.

Hell buy a kawasaki.................... (no offence T.K)

Again, these are [u]MY</u> views only and [u]may not</u> reflect the rest of the fighter crews thoughts. We all have opinions and most of us voice them. dont like my way of thinking?.Thats cool.dont listen to me.
The next bloke to post may love what you are doing.

But before ya hack it to bits, can I swap ya my 2 gsxr1100's and 5 years of sourcing bits for ya K5 ?. I will even deliver em to ya.

There are a lot of people that try to polish a turd with ridiculous amounts of money and still end up with a turd.
I couldn't imagine spending 7 grand on bits to bolt onto my bike as it defeats the purpose of "fightering" and if you have that much spare money why not just buy something better to begin with?.
I can however see the point of taking a nice bike, ripping off the superfluous crap and adding a few choice bits to make it exactly how you want it to be.

    Whatever advice you do take...

It looks like you'll have plenty of time to build your dream bike.[]

Mitch, why not get the ZX6r up an running so you're not bikeless. What are you looking at to replace the CCT - a few days in the shop and $500?

It would then be much easier to sell then also (if its running).

The 3 months isn't how long it'll take to build. That's how long I've lost my licence for.

Does anybody know if the risers on an ABM triple would hit the top-mounted damper? Or could I even re-mount the Ohlins one on the bottom triple where the stock one was?

No idea on the damper issue...

Looks like a good base/colour for a build.

Can't believe there are blokes bagging you out for buying that to fighter. Looks like a fucking great idea to me. Poor kids are probably jealous, or raging xenophobes who think slabbies are the only bikes that should be fightered because 20 years ago when they could chew with their own teeth, it was a badarse bike....kinda like yours in fact.... Buying a crashed bike isn't the most appealing thing to some.

    Keep us updated.

not 100 percent on this but
i think ohlins do a kit
so you can replace the damper
with there one.if you ask a dealer he's let you know.
also a great bike to start with and at the end of the
day it's your's and do what you like to it mate.

    My 2 cents...
What are you going to do ? change to lights, paint it another colour and put bars on it... big deal, to me it'll look like a crashed road bike thats been "streetfightered" and made to look sick as bro, but thats just me....
Now if you replace the tail, do a frontend swap and turbo it, and ever a swinger swap, that to me would become a good late model fighter...
Keep the frame (engine optional) and swap the rest.... To me thats how you build a fighter, they are a collection of many to build the one.
