Please pardon my ignorance, but since two strokes lack torque would that not mean they are all but useless in a drag-type environment?

i dunno dan thats why i wanna try one ...but i do know H2s were killing evrything in the seventies.their power to wieght ratio was way better than any of the contemporary four strokes .
they produce twice as many power strokes as a 4 stroke .
look at the 350ypvs in1983 [50bhp] and compare figures to a 350 performance 4stroke of similar capacity of the same era or an RG500 against... say an early GPZ600 [this would be about the time 4strokes were catching up ] if my memory serves me well the RG had nearly the same 0-60mph time as a GSXR750slabbie and an equivilant standing quarter time.

That is a bit of a myth, most two strokes of equal capacity will have more torque at lower rpm than four strokes. I think it is because people are used to comparing them on a performance basis, and for equal performance a four stroke is usually twice the capacity.

    Spot on Tony,
That's why there's a guy up north (who unfortunatley doesn't bring his bike out very often)with a CR500 that just tears up the strip.
Last i heard it had run in the 9 second zone i think.
